you remember the story that I got on board one of the flights and for the first time a pilot said the fAA tower wants me to see your license I said oh um you know I put that in my flight bag and I checked it and he told him that and they said okay so then I thought to myself boy I have an ID card but I can't let that happen again

I saw an ad where you could have a actually a plaque made of your fAA license it would be a aluminum plaque with black letters and velvet around it in a wood frame all you had to do is supply them the information so I sent it in said I was this pilot this is equipment I flew on my height my weight and they came back with this plaque and then this plaque I went into a printing shop in new york and I said to the guy look this is my pilots license on a plaque but I'd like to be you know like a diploma I'd like to keep it in my wallet can you do something with it

The work is the only thing that matters is what you wrote.

The idea that you give is cultivate profound dissatisfaction with your work.

I highly advise that. So if you had a podcast that got you in trouble, then go through that post-mortem process to see what you might have done that caused it and so you can learn the lesson is extremely important.

But that's different from going back and criticizing a podcast that's already been created and it's out there. What value are you going to get? You're just going to be beating up on yourself as you say.

If you haven't heard of this book yet, everywhere you will, the book is one of those. Each chapter is a new day of the year kind of thing.

The rider of that horse is your rational self, is your frontal cortex or your executive decisions where you go through a rational process of coming to a decision about what needs to be done.

This and I'll mention this in the intro to the show. This is going to be a little bit of an all over the place conversation because of the book is that's what the book is right.

So when I say play on people's need to believe to create a cult like following, you know people going Robert is teaching people how to create a cult.

Well nobody's going to use that chapter to actually literally create a cult. What I'm telling you is the world we live in now there are cults everywhere. Political groups are cults. All kinds of organizations are formed like a cult.

I'm actually working on on a bit of a self-helpy book right now but if I would write a self-help book it would not be about how to live a happier life or how to live a more successful life or how to live a more mindful life or something like that but how to live a more difficult life you know how to make life more difficult for yourself because to be honest it's going to be a best-seller man.

Now on this episode we're discussing the persuasion tactics as used by Donald Trump during and before the 2016 election and whether or not you think that those exist or they're real or whether or not persuasion itself is real or fabricated of course it covers the 2020 election as well.

I don't want people to go, 'This is about Trump, click right.' I want people to go, 'Okay, maybe I hate Trump, or maybe I love him, but in the meantime, I'm going to learn something about persuasion.'

This will certainly polarize a lot of people. I think people who support the current administration are gonna go, 'Yeah, this is amazing, I'd ever noticed all this stuff, it's so enlightening.' Now I got to go rewatch all this video, I'm gonna be looking at him differently.

I think they're gonna have a tough time for it for the same reason the public, well, they're gonna try to separate the politics and their view of things from the actual book.

I wrote that story like ten or eleven years ago the point is it comes back to intent the government the government doesn't care it doesn't matter if you were swept into this they think you broke the law they have a narrative and they are they're out to punish and they love they love cooperators even if you were the one that created the fraud because you have the most to give.

I had to help them understand that I would argue in this varsity case some were saying I didn't have intent I was trapped in into this I was set I was set up I didn't say anything I was kind of agreeing with someone.

In the book you have this interesting thorn analogy with trauma where... somebody gets a thorn stuck in their side and instead of taking out the thorn and dealing with it they don't get near people because if they touch the thorn it hurts and then they can't sleep well at night so they construct this hammock that they can lay in that doesn't mess with the thorn and pretty soon their entire life is built around this thorn that stuck in their side and the thorn being the trauma this is to illustrate that we go through our whole life kind of working to accommodate this instead of dealing with the problem itself but our whole lives can be built around these types of events or this type of trauma whether it's severe or not.

Law enforcement often uses his book The Pimp Game and instructional guide as a textbook for agents to get into the minds and inner workings of human traffickers.

Yeah, this makes sense and you detail a lot of this in the book.

There's even things like contract negotiations and one sample is if she comes and says she has a better offer from another pimp don't lash out or get angry. Give her a better offer.

She's not saying she wants to leave. She's asking you to give her a reason to stay which is just about like any other job offer or contract negotiation in any other industry that you'd normally hear about.

Yeah, it sure sounds like it there's a lot a couple other techniques that i caught from the book constantly reframing to maintain the leader role you don't frame it like that but that's what it is right so you i pointed at coffee with my index finger signaling for her to stand up i didn't like how sweet p which is another girl cut me off about her date coming by as if she was trying to get us to leave so i had to counter as if leaving was still my idea the power lies behind choice and the balance of power must always be dictated by me

I plowed through like three books in one weekend because I'm I was just it's you know it reads like fiction I'll say that I know you call it faction where you change a lot of details so people don't go to prison yeah mainly me yeah yeah that's wise whoever told you do do that was probably to you know good lawyer yeah change the date change the name change everything so that we can credibly claim you don't really know what you're talking about and this is all made even though I have pictures but yeah forget that part though those are those are well hidden except for the ones that are in the book
