and their new books dealing fire and all about like some that's balancing the monkey mind the key idea is this part of the brain that is doing the self editing the inner critic the self doubt the overthinking of everything we've inherited

he's profiled so many athletes and surfers and big wave surfers you know that get in the zone he's never really talked to an artist you know what I mean and I think what was interesting is that he said that in my videos both the verbal diarrhea of the intensity of words that comes at you combined with the jarring editing and cuts shuts down conscious processing in the viewer because it's overwhelming

And he called the book Undercover Muslim. He's so lucky they did not find this stuff, dude.

I got into you know I got one show and then I wrote a book and then I wrote another book and I just kept getting rewarded for all of my behavior

I did my heart was on a life when I was like 27 years old that was before every celebrity came out with a memoir

i've read i think all of his books but the one that's hit more than most helpful it was called you psyche and management and so what does that mean

it was a thought experiment he did he reviewed factories and how companies were managing scene what work and what he came up with from a psychologist is so similar to what I came up with with market-based management

and that talks about social change and he doesn't use the word social entrepreneurs but that's what he's talking about and he talks about people getting engaged to help improve society and he said the one of the biggest obstacles as they say well i'm just one person what can i do well he says that's all there is we're all just one person and if we do nothing and let it go we're going to have society deteriorate and it get worse for virtually everybody so we need to get engaged and we need to get engaged with people who have different capabilities

we didn't talk about it in the show but he was abused by a priest in church as an altar boy when he was younger so he stopped going to church and started pocketing the money his parents gave him for the collection plate and he bought beer with it on Sundays instead of going to church because he was he's working through some stuff and obviously back then people didn't talk about that kind of thing it just was wasn't talked about.

he was loan sharking he talks in the book this is a fun book there's a lot of videos about this to talk about loan sharking and if people didn't pay what he would do is either steal their car or he would put a sternocan underneath the car so if you ever go to a buffet those little canisters that are on fire heating food for long periods of time that's sterno it's like a really pure alcohol I think and what it does is it burns pretty clean but they would like that put it under the car and it would light the car on fire or blow up the car.

there's a great book by Stephen Greenbach called The Swerr and it's this insane story in the 1400s about how the Roman philosopher Lucretius was rediscovered

in that picture in the back of You Are Here: Around the World in the 92 minutes that picture I took it was funny I opened this cookie I had it floating I thought I should take a picture of this cookie

I was surprised actually to read that Art Crime is a $6 billion dollar a year industry.

I thought it was interesting in the book, you mentioned that these guys are not in it because they love art.

I read in your book that thieves, and this was, it made me like cringe so hard. Often thieves destroy the art if they know they're being investigated. So your prime directive is to get the art and getting the thief as a bonus.

I read in your book that you have to see the good in your target. Otherwise, you'll just see the people who stole the art as evil and that inhibits you in your undercover work.

You mentioned something that I thought was actually quite genius in the book. And I'm not sure if I'm reading into this too much, but you call this the decoy, where you find a bond with the target that doesn't have anything to do with the case at hand.

this is a book that I recommend it's a short book I didn't write it I've no involvement was written by a person who I've since met developed a friendship with my name a Michael Gerber he wrote a book called Emeth Revisited

There's a quote from Peter Levine he was a trauma expert he wrote a book called Waking the Tiger healing trauma one of the core quotes in the book is that trauma isn't what happens to you it's what you hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness so it's basically what you hold inside without letting other people know about it.
