The Swerve by Stephen Greenblatt how the modern world began it's about the discovery in 1417 of what had been a long lost latin book a codex of Lucretius that in 1417 more or less gave way to modern thinking and the advent of the renaissance.

There's a wonderful book that I recommend to you that you'll thank me a million times. It's a good read. It's called The Swerve. Have you ever heard of it?

Stephen Greenblatt is a treasure.

He wrote, he's a Shakespearean scholar, but he wrote The Swerve and it was an eye opener for me. I then became an Epicurean because so much of what's in the Epicurus philosophy has nothing to do with, in fact, he famously said if I had a glass of water and a biscuit, I would be eating as well as Zeus.

i do have one book recommendation for you you might have already known but since you mentioned alia in the blitz um in 41 42 right before he committed suicide uh zwai's last book is a little biography of montain and uh so it's a man in exile he wrote it in south america it's him in exile writing about montains you know exile during the reformation uh in the the civil war there and it's one i read it in 2016 and it was so helpful and calming and also terrifying at the same time i just found it it's on it i'm gonna get that and and the swerve yes you might both of them book or recommendations
