You wrote I think in in complicating the narrative which was 2018 um there are all kinds of ways to analyze right and you can talk about the influence of social media you can talk about the business model of journalism and you said all of this mattered this is where you came to but none of these explanations felt quite adequate something else was happening to something that had not been named.

I'll be really honest and vulnerable I hope it's germane uh my mind goes back and forth I mean the topics are I think totally relevant like I have a chapter on moving from grief to resilience I have a chapter on moving from anger to courage um I have a chapter on agency you know finding it's a little bit like what you're saying before finding that sense of agency what can I do what can I control so I don't feel helpless
there's an arc in the book which was almost unintentional where I moved from individual action to kind of seeking systems change by having that kind of vision and then I move back to individual action where the last part of the book is about somebody in his relationship with his father and his father's very sick and dying and how he was with that toward the end

And she's got a new book called Run Toward the Danger in which she explores the relationship between her past and her present and how the two are in constant dialogue.
And this also became the organizing principle of the six essays in her book, All Of Which Confront, which she calls the most dangerous stories of her life.
The connective tissue between the essays was a dialogue that was occurring between the two very different time frames of my life the past was affecting how I moved through the world well present life was affecting how the past moved through me the past and present I have come to realize are in constant dialogue acting upon one another in a kind of reciprocal pressure dance
Run toward the danger is a way of being that I have taken into my life with me a treasure a spell a sword
The book is called Run Towards the Danger and I've made three feature films that are available.

So I often kind of just reflect on kind of my very best experiences the feelings of like spending time with my partner or the falling in love for being a beautiful nature and I just think wow we can create a world where just our grandkids grandkids this is how good life is for them all the time and I personally find that motivating kind of something to build towards and I guess yeah honestly I found that more motivating day-to-day than worrying about nuclear war
