And I will tell you that I did start reading her work to understand asexuality better. And what happened is that I began to understand myself and everyone that I know better and what sexuality is in general better. And it just kind of opened up a whole new world.

And I'm glad that the subtitle did not lie because I do think asexuality is about desire and society and the meaning of sex and not just no one specific experience.

So good to hear, you know, thank you. Shout out to my marketing team. Yes, they nailed it. Exactly. They nailed it. They nailed it.

And I should back up and say, you know, by that point I was in a second serious relationship and I'd never had any, what you might call sexual problems like libido stuff or inhibition. It was all very smooth in that area.

I think that understanding sex and sexuality in the hunger and the hamburger was so liberating to me personally, because it was like, I think there's probably whole swaths of people, including myself, who only understand their sexuality interpersonally.

I was reading Angela Chen's Ace book and she was talking about how there was this study where a bunch of men either walked across a sturdy bridge or a swaying bridge.

I just finished a book that was 835 pages. It's called Priory of the Orange Tree. And it is incredible. I love fiction books. It was the most mind blowing thing I have ever read. I will now be disappointed with every other book I read.

So the goal this I was taught by Gary Friedman... And one of them is Gary Friedman, who is a really renowned conflict expert who ran for office in California.

when I started working on High Conflict, I was following people who were trapped in really ugly dysfunctional conflicts of all kinds, all around the world. And I was asking them, how did you get out? And it turned out that's the wrong question because we need conflict.

High Conflict is a special kind of conflict that becomes conflict for conflict's sake. It escalates, it begins to distort our perception. It's usually an us versus them kind of deal.

in that state, the research is really clear that we just make a ton of mistakes. I mean, we literally lose our peripheral vision and figuratively.

So High Conflict is characterized by things like contempt, disgust, predictability. You know exactly, it's the same arguments over and over, and you're maybe having them in your head. And also a real sense of righteousness and superiority.

good conflict is more about anger. Anger's okay. Anger means you want me to be better. Contempt means you've given up on me.
