I went into Good Night Moon thinking this is going to be. This is going to be a good one. This is going to be a hit. This is one of the worst books.

His new book is called The Tao of Willie. A guide to the happiness in your heart.

Which also can be pronounced the Tao, I got it mixed. I first thought it was the toe of Willie. The toe? The toe of Willie. Really?

Well, no. Someone asked me to write this book and I said, you know, what's Tao? I said, what's the...

Is your philosophy something like, hey, if they put food in front of you, eat it? I like that. I like that a lot. Yeah, that's good.

The book is The Dow of Willie.

For instance, the song Goathead is a story of your mom and dad and how as an interracial couple, people did not want them to exist. Could you tell the audience what Goathead is inspired by?

Goathead is a story. This song started as a story that my mother told me when I was around 14 years old.

One last part of it that touched me in a way that I wasn't expecting because it's not one of the songs, but rather the title of the album is Jamie.

Musician who has sold hundreds of millions of records throughout his career and just released his memoir called Not Dead Yet.

I've been wanting to do it since the nineties, you know? And I kind of felt, uh, at the time, it's kind of why not?

And then, um, I, when it came to the music, I kind of glazed over because it was so dense and putting it in order seemed like a huge mountain to climb. So I got together with a journalist, uh, called Craig McLean who helped me sort through that mud.

She is the coauthor of the new book, No Slam Dancing, No Stage Diving, No Spikes, An Oral History of the Legendary City Gardens.

And the book is really a time capsule about indie music in the eighties and nineties.

And I think the fact that we all went there really stoked our creativity and we were suburban kids. We were stuck sort of in the middle of Philadelphia and New York.

There's a new book that just came out called John and Paul, A Love Story. And it's the story of McCartney and Lennon, not told as the Beatles story, but it's really just a portrait of their friendship.

And it's A, a level of artistic excellence that we really haven't seen very much of. And B, male friendship. And I think that's what really connects people to it is we don't see a lot about that.

And there's a kid's book version and then there's a more grown up graphic novel version. But it is, it's basically if you're giving a kid like, if old yeller was also the movie gravity, where you're just like, sometimes, look, sometimes kid, humans will just shoot a dog into space with no plan to bring it back.

I live in that world for a little bit. Yeah. Yeah. Hi. Here we are. And here we are. Yeah. I... You wrote this beautiful piece in Porter Magazine about... It was a love letter to your friends and I want... It was... What my girlfriends taught me about love and strength.

You know, for me reading it, it was so nice. It just felt like a warm hug with, in this world, how women are so often pitted against one another. To read that felt so like honest and wonderful.
