"

In his new book out today called A Billion Years, My Escape from a Life in the Highest Ranks of Scientology, he details it all, including incredible stories about Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, John Travolta and what happened the one time he tried to lure Michael Jackson into the church.

Scientology denies all of this I'm sure Tom Cruise does too um why should people be thinking like what how should they be thinking about the Church of Scientology you know you hear a lot of like well Catholics believe in crazy things too so do Jews so do Muslims you know what what makes Scientology different

I'm in in some ways it's not really that different but what makes it different is as we talked about earlier your tax your tax taxes are being used to subsidize the activities of Scientology and while you could say your tax dollars are being used to subsidize the activities of the Catholic Church or the Presbyterians or the Baptist or whoever and everybody's got problems nobody has institutionalized abuse and formalized the policies of the organization to attack destroy and abuse people like Scientology especially those who leave the church

I said one time and a lot of people have quoted me since saying the real way to tell the difference between a religion and a cult is what happens to you after you leave

you've got to buy it it's called A Billion Years my escape from a life in the highest ranks of Scientology

It was discussed in detail, with a focus on the stories of ordinary people burdened by excessive regulations, like the Yateses and the Hemingway cat case. Justice Gorsuch explored the issue of overregulation and its impact on individual freedoms.

"

What happens, this is my phrase, to the little guy and their foundational freedoms like the right to speak, the right to pray, the right to gather freely when our laws increasingly restrict what we may say, they monitor what we do and tell us how we may live.

But, you know, James Madison, a long time ago asked the question, all right, some law is essential, but is there an irony in law? And can there be too much law in ways that actually hurt our freedoms and our aspirations for equality and our rights?

The federal criminal code is more than doubled in my lifetime in length. There are so many federal crimes now in regulatory provisions that nobody can be sure because it would take years just to read them. There are at least 300,000 we know.

And you say that one of the essential purposes in our founding documents, as as recognized by Justice William O. Douglas, was to take government off the backs of the people and to keep it off.

Our founders wanted for us written laws. They wrote a constitution that was a novel idea in human history at the time. And it was designed to divide and check and balance power and make lawmaking difficult.

Episode: BREAKING: Kamala Picks Radical Walz as VP, and Val...

It was discussed as a book about the negative impacts of excessive laws on ordinary Americans. Justice Gorsuch highlighted stories of individuals negatively impacted by overregulation and bureaucratic overreach.

"

The First Amendment protects an individual's right to speak his mind regardless of whether the government considers his speech sensible and well-intentioned or deeply misguided and likely to cause anguish or incalculable grief.

liberty lies in the hearts of men and women. When it dies there, no constitution, no law, no court can even do much to help it.

If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, it expects what never was and never will be.

What happens when lawmaking moves away from 'we the people' and into other, into executive areas where you're just a few people are deciding everything for us?

we should all recognize what gifts were given in our constitution. We all do. They don't, people don't need to be reminded of it, but sometimes we do forget, don't we?

Blind Spots, When Medicine Gets It Wrong, and What It Means for Our Health.

So when we use good science in medicine, we can help a lot of people, but when we use the opinions of a small group of leaders and central planners in medicine where they issue these broad edicts, we have a lousy track record. Food pyramid, the opioid epidemic, the obesity epidemic.

The Mayo Clinic looked at 14,000 kids and compared those who had an antibiotic in the first couple of years of life. This is a scary part of the book.

The kids who took an antibiotic in the first couple of years of life compared to kids who did not had a 20% higher rate of obesity, 21% higher rate of learning disabilities, all of which are on the rise in the modern era of antibiotics, 32% higher rate of attention deficit disorder, 90% higher rate of asthma, and nearly a 300% higher rate of celiac.
