at a certain point, Jeff made a huge push to bring on Alison Golas to her daytime television show.

they were joined at the hip.

I had to wonder why Jeff was angling so hard to bring Alison on board.

She and her husband and kids had moved into the apartment right above Jeff and Karen's. Everyone who heard about their cozy arrangement thought it was super strange.

his first hire, Alison Golas over on CNN. Oh, and I never did hear from him about that job.

She's getting hit because she admits she wouldn't help younger women while at NBC because like Ashley Banfield, she said, because she would have considered itself sabotage.

She believed Ashley Banfield's dad was running around saying Ashley was going to get Katie's job. And that's why she felt that way.

Ashley, who's I have to say, always a class act. I love Ashley Banfield. Came out and said she's yeah, she does. She can't said I'm really hurt by that.

And by the way, my dad was senile and in a nursing home. And I don't know what you're talking about, but he no.

Deborah Norville, I guess she said Deborah Norville had relentless perfection that was off putting to viewers.

it's very honest, I think it's probably gonna ruffle a few feathers out there but you know it's from my perspective and uh you know what what I experienced and you know I think when you're a public figure if I guess I was for many years people write about you and you really don't have a chance to kind of try to to reflect or express what it was like being in that position so it felt really good and liberating to kind of say hey this this is what happened this is my experience and you know hopefully it'll be illuminating to people and um interesting I think a lot of women who have people have ideas of that they're not like what people think you're like it's very interesting um I'm people will be very this will be a really interesting book

it's very honest I think it's probably gonna ruffle a few feathers out there

I talk a lot about me too you do and matt and what that was like really how I processed that whole thing

I talk a lot about losing my husband to colon cancer news 42 and our kid daughters were six and two and I was 41 and my sister a few years later so um I would say it's incredibly candid and raw um and I I thought it was I thought it was very you went you did the Kathryn Graham thing I mean the ball things and that was another by I think it'll be surprising to people and people will like it quite a bit

I've never been so happy to have gone through menopause.

You know, one of the most vulnerable moments in this book is when you're talking about your interview with Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

I think what he's doing is dumb and it was irresponsible.

Going There Comes Out in Paperback June 28th

Katie Couric has a new book out and it is called Going There and Boy Does She.

She also revealed RBG's harshest comments about kneeling during the national anthem. . . according to Couric said that people were quote showing contempt for a government that has made it possible for their parents and grandparents to live a decent life, which they probably could not have lived in the places they came from. As they became older they realized that this was youthful folly and that's why education is important end quote.

Couric because she wanted to protect RBG thought the comments were unworthy of an icon of equality and justice and made the decision to keep them out.

I'm actually going to talk about Katie Couric's memoir. She had an Epstein dinner.

So when Couric's new memoir came out...I was actually really curious what was really going on at the iconic morning show behind the scenes.

In fact, she might be on average more ethical in principle than most in the industry, having done some genuinely good things...things like raise millions for cancer research after her husband died of cancer at a young age.

And yet, buffeted by the realities of corporate media and access journalism, she perpetuated the very worst of our media hellscape.

But there's a story that's woven throughout this book that I think really gets to the root of how the media operates and why anchors and journalists prefer to punch down rather than to ever hold the powerful to account.

And it was a profound act of narcissism and arrogance that will forever tarnish her legacy.

I like that she's being honest in this book for good and for ill.

so normally when a memoir comes out, all the reviews are like, this is self-serving garbage. It's a false narrative designed to clean up their image.

And then this, all these excerpts from Katie Couric's book come out and they're like, she kind of seems terrible in this.

She worked side by side with Matt Lauer for a decade while he was pressing that button that closed his office door every time a junior producer with breasts brought him the mail. A lot of people knew.

I worked really hard on it over three years and I think it shows all the research I had to do because I have a good memory but not that good.

it is very Expansive and it covers a lot of different things.

I think it's kind of sneaks in a lot of issues that I think people might be surprised to read about I don't think they're know they're reading about issues per se right? Yeah, but they I think through my 40-year career or whatever in my 64 year old life it it spans a lot of big societal changes and kind of It's perfect for the culture East us because it really talks about Culture, right?

It's been very strange. I've been really pissed off about it for you.

I think I even write about that. Yeah, I think in some cases It's more extreme than others this duality that exists But that's sort of what I would say to answer that question.
