I do want to throw a huge shout out to Beth Macy and her incredible book, Dope Sick.

And anyone listening to this, if you've seen the show and you haven't read the book yet, I highly recommend it.

It's not totally dissimilar from Hillbilly Elegy by JD Vance. It just takes a hard, honest and sometimes unfavorable view of Appalachia and what's happened there.

I expect everybody that works for me to read this book.

If you can develop metabolic flexibility, if you can train your body through choices of food that you eat and types of exercise that you choose to do, if you can train your body to become metabolically flexible, you can train it to derive energy from whatever substrate happens to be available.

So metabolic flexibility is when you achieve kind of that state, you are now able to go longer periods of time without eating, which includes not needing to snack.

The good news is it's very easy if you know the right tools, if you have the right strategy.

The first thing that really I find disappears is this need to snack between meals.

It's not like I'm ever feeling like I'm sacrificing. I just choose foods that are a good for me and B I know I'm going to love and love the taste of.
