The book is called On the Edge, The Art of Risking Everything.

I want to end on a part of your book I found really interesting, which is about the physical experience of risk in gambling, but in other things. You talk about pain tolerance, you talk about how the body feels when you're behind on a hand and you're losing your chips, you've talked about being on tilt, but I see it in politics too.

We'll get into where the 2024 election stands including the one state we all should be watching but we're also going to talk about the importance of risk taking and the habits of successful risk takers which he lays out in his new book out today on the edge, The Art of Risking Everything.

It's rising up the Amazon charts and sure to be another bestseller Nate Silver is here for the first time.

whereas the river is my name for a community of like-minded risk takers so it's people in silicon valley and wall street it's the casino business

It was known as the Silver Book Plan and it was essentially to raise Skid Row, kick everyone out, bulldoze buildings, start fresh.

And he has a new book out that I happened to just read on my own, couldn't stop talking about. It's called On the Edge, The Art of Risking Everything.

The book isolates this group that you refer to as the river, profiling people like Doyle Brunson, Peter Thiel, Sam BankmanFreed, Sam Altman, and others.

There's a list of 13 of these in the book and they kind of fall somewhat into personality characteristics and somewhat into psychological characteristics.

Anyways, then Chicago and you know, I always tease him because we did ABC together. He used to be with 538 and started 538 and then he was an ABC did commentary for ABC. And so I said, Hey, you know what made his reputation was a 12 election where he called every race right but mine.

So look, this kind of a rambling introduction, I understand, and I'm sure my editor will have cleaned up some of it by the time you get to it. These are all things that I have been thinking a lot about. Like I literally have this stack of note cards here on my desk. Life is risk, I wrote. There is one in every decision. There is risks to questioning, right? To curiosity, right? It kills the cat. Ultimately, there is no learning without risk. I wrote, it killed the cat again. So clearly I wanted to do that. The point is I've been thinking a lot about the themes of this book, so I was very excited to have it.
