I just started your new novel your latest novel on number one lawyer sort of a classic sort of a classic character classic premise um don't spoil it for me don't spoil it for anyone uh but just you know tell people who this guy's about

well the number one lawyer first of all i'm a total junkie for lawyer stories and and murder trials i love them um what i wanted to do there was to do something it would rival the stuff that i've really loved in the past and in this case you have a really really popular lawyer uh really successful lawyers never lost a case and down in Mississippi he has to go to court and the reason he has to go to the court is he's been accused of murdering his wife in cold blood there's a fair amount of evidence and he decides he's against a lot of advice that he's going to defend himself uh and i love that scenario it's just uh it's kind of irresistible for anybody who loves drama and suspense and melodrama which i which i love as well uh and um you know so that's and there are a lot of elements obviously to it i like doing it in Mississippi it's right on the golf and he actually at one point he has to get out of the law for a while and he becomes a lifeguard on the beaches in boaxi which is interesting and then and then he goes back into being a lawyer to solve cases and you know i just i love the whole scenario the whole story of it is it's kind of and you know when you start when i start one of these novels i always hope they're going to turn out well and sometimes not so much but this one turned out really well number one lawyer it's really nobody's going to be disappointed with it i don't think

it's for sure too uh gira number three which which we're taking to film at this stage and then uh i suspect number one lawyer will get would be a get option too yeah

I've wanted to write a book like this for a long time.

I had a book that I wrote last year that came out, but I got the idea that this could be a book actually while I was on the tour for my first book, because I really saw with my own eyes going to all these different places, meeting all these different kinds of people while I was on the road all around the country, just how much we really do have in common.

I'm hoping that at the very least, it makes people feel OK to have conversations, that it makes people feel like they can say, hey, I know that my whole thing is that I'm super left wing, but I didn't really like this policy or I didn't really like this thing this politician said, or hey, I know my whole thing is that I'm conservative or I'm Republican. I didn't like this thing that Trump said or this DeSantis said.

It's easy to forget because he's usually invisible, but we still have Joe Biden as president for four more months. That is a scary prospect considering his obvious cognitive decline.

The fate of the free world should not be left in the hands of a man who can't remember where he is or what he's meant to be doing at any given moment.
