I think the existence of work-life balance is a mirage.

First of all I make the argument that work is a vital and integral part of our life.

So how do you balance something that's a part of your life with your life?

And I think this is kind of a millennial concept of work-life balance that I don't blame them for coming up with because the baby boomers told them there was something called retirement where you can check out altogether for 30 years so if you're going to end your life in a 30-year vacation I guess you're entitled to have the balance of yoga class at four in the afternoon but I don't think that's the way life works or is supposed to work.

I believe that God made us to work I believe he gave us purpose and dignity in work so the presupposition of a Vermont senator that what we're all trying to do is work less is I think incredibly arrogant and misguided he doesn't reflect a good understanding of the human person

Casey Means' new book, which she co-wrote with her brother, Kelly Means, is called Good Energy, the Surprising Connection Between Metabolism and Limitless Health.

And the realization that really prompted this book is that we are buying into a system that is predicated essentially on a lie, which is the fact that the body is somehow separated into like 100 different parts.

So I think the first thing to realize is that that $5 price tag is not actually what it really is.

Gentle parenting has been a fad now for at least 20 years and it's the therapeutic approach to parenting where kids' feelings are always front and center...and the parent avoids all punishment, tries never to say no.

I don't think it's particularly helpful...if you go on the parenting chat sites where people have tried this and the kids get more and more and more violent, it would be hilarious if it weren't also a little tragic.

Our default must be with kids, you're going to be just fine, because if they hear that, they're much more likely to realize it's true and they're much more likely to develop the internal resources to make it true.

This has been a passion of mine since several years back. I wrote a book called Unknown Valor and it's about the story, the history of Pearl Harbor to Iwo Jima. It's based on my mother's first cousin, Harry Gray was killed at Iwo Jima at the age of 18. And so writing his story, I ended up digging into all of these stories of people who he had mentioned in the letters that he sent home. I ended up meeting two of the people who were actually with him when he was killed. It was an extraordinary personal journey for me and I learned so much.
