Interestingly, this murder is also referred to on the book jacket of the book Ann did write as the quote, 'first true crime book written at the victim's request because Sheila herself had said that quote, 'if anything ever happens to me, find Ann Rule and ask her to write my story.'

She says she emailed her to tell her that she had to write a book about this story.

When I asked her about this recently, she was weirdly tight lipped except to say once she called the house looking for me, but I was at the office. So she hung up and called me there. She had a really high pitched voice.

'just got another email from my friend Ann'.

But when I ordered a copy of Every Breath You Take and checked the acknowledgement section, there was my mom's name.

You always love it when a researcher's like, read this book, you'll like it, it's good.

Oh, hell yeah. When Hannah sent me this one, she was like, holy shit, what happened?

Okay, so this is new to me author named Angie Kim and she wrote a book called Miracle Creek.

And then more recently, a book called Happiness Falls and I've read them both.

And oh, they're good.

They're like murder slash death slash, you know, like explosion mystery, not in both, but each of those have those themes that you're trying to solve through the case, through the book.

It's based on like different perspectives from different characters, usually a strong female lead who's totally fallible and it's like what happened. It's not what you think it is. It's like, it's really, it's really smart. It's this smart mystery.

She had a big plastic book filled with cassette tapes. Remember that's how audiobooks used to come.

The cover read, 'Attacking Anxiety and Depression'. She explained that this series helped her tremendously many years ago and wanted to share it with me.

Her name is Eula Bliss, E-U-L-A.

It's really good writing.

I couldn't stop reading this book and then they held it up to the camera.

It's like a still life of a table with lobster stuff on it.

That's like the box car children. It's a wonderful popular children's book series where it's almost the exact same thing, orphans, taking care of themselves and living out of a train car.

It's called When the Stars Go Dark by Paula McClain.

Paula McClain is like a great crime writer.

So it's a quickie. I got into it and out of it real fast listening to it.

My main source for today is a book that you may have heard of. Originally the book was called 'The Professor and the Madman'. But that is now a title that the author Simon Winchester isn't comfortable with, because the word madman is antiquated and offensive in regard to mental illness.

So the name of the book is now 'The Surgeon of Crowthorne' by Simon Winchester. But I think most people remember the book, 'The Professor and the Madman'. It's a good book. Anyways, that's all to say that.

And again, that book that you should read is called 'The Surgeon of Crowthorne' by Simon Winchester.

I'm almost positive it's on my dad's. Yes. Absolutely. And this one was called 'The Professor and the Madman'. So if you see that, steal it from your parents.

My main source of the story is a book called The Premonition Poisoner, The True Story of Serial Killer Tilly Clemeck by Charlize Ellis.

I started reading The Five. Yes. Oh, that book is so goddamn good. By Haley Rubinhold, which is so incredible. It's about the canonical five known victims of Jack the Ripper, and it's only about their lives. That's it.

And then on Wicked Words Kate Winkler Dawson talks to true crime author Alex Marr about her book 70 Times 7 which is about one of America's youngest death row inmates so make sure to check that out.

They become mutually obsessed with Felix's current interest, which is a 1928 book called The Grape Cure, which prescribes an all grape diet.

It's one book written by a man called Samuel Fort and it's called The Cult of the Great Eleven.

So we do what Samuel Fort does because he truly is the primary source of the story I'm about to tell you. So this is the story of the Cult of the Great Eleven.
