Yeah, I wonder how common this use is because, you know, we have shows like House. Differential diagnosis, people.

It could be hyperaldosteronism or Barger syndrome. Gotta put that damn book down.

He was encouraged to write that memoir, Hillbilly Elegy, by his law school mentor.

It hit the New York Times bestseller list, and it got taken up as a sort of Rosetta Stone for liberals who are trying to understand the disaffection of middle American blue collar workers.

It was a memoir, so it told his life story. The political kernel of the book was basically that Appalachian Americans and a certain type of blue collar worker suffered from a set of social pathologies, you know, typical tropes or laziness, a lack of personal initiative.

And so the news reporters are calling this guy and they're saying, we want to understand why white people voted for Donald Trump. And J.D. Vance is there to explain at the time what does he think about Donald Trump?

And he says as he watched his liberal friends react to Trump and sort of go a little bit crazy as he sees it over what Trump was doing, it radicalized him against the sort of vision of progressive liberalism that was dominant in those circles.

25 years ago, Bob wrote a book called Bowling Alone. It was grounded in data, and it offered a simple premise. Once upon a time, Americans joined bowling leagues. Now they're going bowling by themselves.

He extended the metaphor, positing that our declining social connections were leading to a decline in our democratic society. Lonely Americans, he wrote, are not great for America.

The book was a strike. It's still influential today.

In the book Bowling Alone, which was written almost 30 years ago, 25 to 30 years ago, I talked about the decline in these connections, decline in what I called social capital.

They haven't rewritten the book on how the election is going to be conducted in North Carolina.

An angel visited Joseph and instructed him to unearth an ancient record hidden in a nearby hill, which Joseph translated by the power of God. This ancient record was the Book of Mormon.

He was the lead researcher on a recent book by the social scientist Jonathan Haidt called The Anxious Generation.

That book was making the case that like phones are destroying our children.

I saw it when it came out. There was like a little piece about it everywhere. People walking all over Brooklyn holding this book. It's talking about the great rewiring.
