Vivek Ramaswamy's book, "Nation of Victims," was mentioned in the context of Disney's shift in leadership and the broader discussion about corporate wokeness, suggesting a theme of victimhood in modern culture.

"

I come from the vantage point of having authored actually a letter to Disney's board of directors and to Bob Chappick earlier this year, questioning certain of their business decisions from a shareholder perspective.

I've written about this extensively in the Wall Street Journal and elsewhere.

I wrote a book about it a little over a year ago. I did not expect to have to write a sequel. SBF actually provides the telltale story of a sequel.

But this pattern repeats itself where the problem with virtue signaling is that at some point signaling your virtue becomes more important than the act of actually being virtuous.

It's something to be alarmed about. It's not just hypocritical. Exactly. It is how the game works. You pretend like you care about something other than profit and power precisely to gain more profit and power.

Episode: Trump Associates Raided, and Victimhood in America...

It was discussed as a critique of the rise of victimhood in American culture, emphasizing how it has become a national identity and hindered the pursuit of excellence. It also explores the path to a potential solution through forgiveness.

"

Victimhood has become America's new national identity.

It is the reason why most immigrants come to this country. It is the reason why my parents came to this country. But the path from one to the other is a complicated one and it runs through some uncomfortable places.

The path from victimhood to excellence runs through forgiveness.

When somebody gets a competitive advantage from seeing themselves or describing themselves and holding themselves out as a victim through an affirmative action program to get into college, whatever the case may be, everyone loses out.

The path from victimhood to excellence runs through forgiveness.

Episode: Deep Dive: How Technology and Addiction to Phones...

It explored the loss of certain experiences in modern life due to technology, particularly the decline of face-to-face interactions and the impact on emotional development, such as reading facial expressions.

"

I was concerned while I watched each new generation coming of age, including my own kids, that there were a number of experiences that those of us who grew up pre-smartphone, pre-internet had had that were disappearing.

Basic things like learning how to write by hand, but also broader skills like how to wait, how to be bored, how to daydream, the kinds of things that now because we have these powerful new technologies, which are wonderful in many ways, they don't allow us to experience some of these things that actually do help us become better human beings.

So I spent some time in meme world. I'm a Gen Xer and I'm old, so I still use emojis and badly according to my children, but I found those really creative because they're quite evocative.

They tend to be extremely sarcastic and some of them are just downright funny, but the emotional impact is what I think that generation in particular is trying to express through a medium that isn't as expressive as their human body is.

The more pictures you take, the less you remember about the actual experience you're having. And second, you don't usually go back and look at those pictures in the same way that again to go old school people used to sit down together and look at an old family photo album and turn the pages and see the pictures and talk about who was doing what when.

Episode: Deep Dive: How Technology and Addiction to Phones...

It explored how modern technology, specifically smartphones and the internet, has negatively impacted human experiences and interactions, particularly in younger generations, leading to a decline in essential skills like reading facial expressions and having in-person interactions.

"

I was concerned while I watched each new generation coming of age, including my own kids, that there were a number of experiences that those of us who grew up pre-smartphone, pre-internet had had that were disappearing.

Friends get together online, but less so in face-to-face ways. Our public spaces, which used to be places you could bump into people, meet new people, have become just Wi-Fi hotspots where we can all be in our own little universe on our phones.

And I feel like our real world, because of the power of our technologies, some of our real world experiences are disappearing because we outsource them to technology.

The title actually comes from a naturalist who was worried that kids growing up in a world where they didn't play outside and they didn't experience the natural world wouldn't understand what they'd lost if that world disappeared.

It was described as a hard-core look at wokeness, compared to the Puritans, but with humor and an optimistic message for the future, and was hard to put down.

"

The best book I've read on the absurdity and futility of the woke movement.

Rothman brilliantly and methodically exposes the vapidity of these new Puritans with too-nuts-to-be-true examples of those they target from poets, knitters and bird watchers to chefs and home decorators.

No one is safe in these modern day witch trials until we realize the secret to dismantling them. Mockery.

Absolutely brilliant. Utterly engrossing. You will laugh out loud and shout these stories from the rooftops as Rothman reminds us that sanctimonious cults of misery have historically short shelf lives.

It is an optimistic read about the nonsense that we've been dealing with for far too long now.

And so, you know, instead of sort of teaching our children about victimhood, for example, as we were talked about, we're sort of teaching them about sort of standing on your own.

It's not preachy, it's not political, it's just telling great stories with really incredible and engaging art.

The memoir was described as a harrowing recollection of alleged childhood sexual assault that the author claimed to have recovered through MDMAassisted therapy.

"

She did write that book called The Tell. In this book, The Tell, she claimed that she underwent MDMA therapy. That's an illegal psychedelic drug.

And she said using the drug unlocked years of memories, including of being sexually assaulted by a middle school teacher more than 30 years ago where she grew up in Amarillo, Texas.

She went on the Drew Barrymore show. ... This is an Oprah book of the month. It was her book club. She featured it. She lavished praise on the book and on Amy Griffin.

She began, when she had Amy on her show, by telling a story about Amy's daughter that Amy purports to recount in the book.

I was just floored when I read Amy's story. What she discovered about herself, about her past, made me recognize how powerful the desire to forget is, and also how powerful the desire to remember is, and how your life can change when you reconcile the two.

Dr. Dale Bredesen is the senior director of precision brain health at the Pacific Neuroscience Institute and the author of the book, "The End of Alzheimer's", which is actually an amazing read with so much information.

Episode: A Deep Dive Into Alzheimer's and Disturbing New Sc...

Dr. Bredesen discussed his book, 'The End of Alzheimer's', which details his theory that Alzheimer's is a network insufficiency, not a single cause disease. He explained that it's critical to address multiple contributors, such as insulin resistance and inflammation, rather than focusing on one theory.

"

This is actually part of a much bigger problem. So we are all witnessing the titanic, that is mainstream medicine, going down because it has rammed into the iceberg of chronic illnesses.

And I'm talking about Alzheimer's, Lou Gehrig's disease, frontotemporal dementia, Lewy body disease, on and on, CBD, PSP, all these other ones, and including late stage cancers, including chronic renal failure.

We are all in an era in which mainstream medicine is treating things the way we treated them in the 20th century, simple illnesses, viral illnesses, bacterial illnesses, things like that.

So what our research over the last 30 years has suggested is that this is fundamentally a different type of disease. It's not a simple, it's amyloid or it's tau or something like that. This is a network insufficiency.

So the idea here is you have this beautiful plasticity in your brain. You're learning all sorts of wonderful things. You're remembering all sorts of wonderful things. You can make new synapses, you can support them and so forth and so on. And in fact, the big issue with Alzheimer's, as you know, is the loss of those synapses.

Why Small Talk Sucks

The book is about being honest with yourself. It is an introspective and reflective book, talking about life lessons and the benefits of being honest with yourself and others. The author challenges the reader to have honest conversations with themselves and to stop volunteering lies to others. The book also talks about the importance of grounding exercises and holistic remedies, as opposed to just taking a pill. "

The book is called Get Honest or Die Lying, is because it's so easy to be real with other people. But it's so hard to be real with yourself.

I wrote this book for people to stop lying to themselves and stop volunteering those lies to other people.

That's a theme of your book in some ways. Powerful words.

It's something you've worked at, you've cultivated. You talk in the book about the therapy you've been through all the way down to, I don't know if this didn't exactly come from your therapist, but you have a spiritual guru in your life as well.

The only chapter I was like, wow, well, this is not positive. This is, this is some stark stuff. And it's about race. It's called Defamation.

Episode: Weekend "Best Of": Bill Maher, Riley Gaines, Shawn...

It was discussed that the book was written to encourage honesty with oneself and with others, after Charlamagne had a personal spiritual awakening and realised he was often volunteering lies to others.

"

And that's literally what I wrote this book for. I wrote this book for people to stop lying to themselves and stop volunteering those lies to other people.

I just I think that we lack self-awareness, man. And I think that one of the main reasons that, you know, a lot of people just aren't being honest with their self, which is why the book is called Get Honest or Die Lying, is because it's so easy to be real with other people. But it's so hard to be real with yourself.

My whole life, that's what I've challenged myself to be just honest because, you know, my dad used to always tell me something when I was young. He was like, 'man, when you lie to me, you're not lying to me. You lie to yourself.'

Episode: Charlamagne tha God on Why He Won't Endorse Biden,...

It was discussed that the book is about being honest with yourself and stopping volunteering lies to others. It was also mentioned that it included his experiences and background.

"

That's why the book is called Get Honest or Die Lying, is because it's so easy to be real with other people, but it's so hard to be real with yourself.

I wrote this book for people to stop lying to themselves and stop volunteering those lies to other people.

I think what makes you special is your extreme ability to be introspective, reflective about your life, to keep challenging yourself, to keep change, keep changing, keep growing.

And you're very, very honest about what you perceive as your own shortcomings, whether it was early on in your marriage, something you addressed, whether it was the life lessons you took from your dad and your uncle, and you're sort of growing up, which you realized as an adult weren't so great.

Don't forget, buy the book today. It's called Get Honest or Die Lying by Charlemagne Tha God. It's fascinating, as you can tell, is he?

He said that it's a diagnosis on what's going on with us right now and picks up on something Megyn Kelly said to him about feeling without a political home. Maher feels like this is his best book, and is proud of it. He recommends people read it like the bible.

"

This is the tease we used on Fox News for about two decades. Without the words comedian, what you hear next will shock you. Right. Exactly. I thought I would bring it to the book world.

I mean, I worked like I could never have done this without the strike, the strike that we had last year game at the time to do this.

I think people should treat like the Bible. I think they should put it by their nightstand and read passages each night. And I think it'll help you through your life.

I think it's, I think I know, I think they thought he was the strongest candidate, the one who could sort of be the strongest leader and take Biden down. But I look at Biden, and I feel like the Democrats really could have made a switcheroo.

I mean, my first show back after the strike ended, which was last September, the first editorial I did was called Ruth Bader Biden. I was the one who coined that phrase. I was saying, if he continues on, if he doesn't get out of the race, he's going to be Ruth Bader Biden. He's going to be the person who's hung around too long, destroyed his legacy, and probably the country with it.

Episode: Bill Maher on Biden's Pandering, Woke Progressives...

Bill Maher discussed his new book, which was released on the day of the podcast. It is a collection of his editorials from his HBO show and is described as a 'real book' compared to his previous 'toilet books' of 'New Rules'.

"

I feel like this one I'm more proud of than any book I ever did.

I think they should put it by their nightstand and read passages each night. And I think it'll help you through your life.

I really think it's not mostly me. I mean, the left was very different. Now, of course, the right got way worse.

I say I have lost some people and I don't miss them. Those are the more woke people who think I'm somehow betrayed them.

It's actually very, the funniest book ever, I think. And lots of people have said the same thing.

Episode: Andrew Schulz and Bill Maher - Megyn Kelly's "Doub...

The book was promoted as a brandnew release that mixes humor with political commentary, and the host described it as very funny and worth reading.

"

Joining me now is someone I've been wanting to interview on this program. For years, he is one of the sharpest political commentators around. ... He's author of the brand new book that's just out today, What This Comedian Said Will Shock.

And watching real time. And buying this book. It's called... It's actually very, it's the funniest book ever.

Don't forget, it's called What This Comedian Said. Good Father's Day present. Shock you.
