I wrote this book. I was on your show talking about my book, It Could Happen Here. And the point of the book, It Could Happen Here, was what happens when hate goes to the unthinkable and how can we stop it?

And yet here we are, you know, literally sifting through the rubble and counting the bodies, trying to identify the victims in a way which suggests we haven't learned the lessons at all.

If you read the Bible, The Book of Job and um, things like that talk about, you know, how he lost everything, but he still trusted in God.

I thought about why we saw what we saw and we were in a pandemic and so people were locked in their homes.

We had the audacity of a 17 year old black woman to take her phone out and videotape what happened.

We have literally since that point when I thought we were making that change, we have been going backwards over 1600 books banned.

For a lot of people, including a lot of white folk that we love, that we talk to, that are our friends. Equality feels like oppression to them. And that's the definition of white supremacy.

So back in 2020, 21, when we were all kind of locked in our homes, and then we saw George Floyd be murdered on camera. I thought about why we saw what we saw.

And we were in a pandemic, and so people were locked in their homes. We had the audacity of a 17-year-old Black woman to take her phone out and videotape what happened.

We had nine minutes of a Black man calling out for his mom with a knee on the back of his neck, and the world could not turn away.

And it took all of that just for us to have accountability. Not justice, but accountability. Justice is George Floyd still being here.

And then shit changed and we went backwards. I mean, we have literally since that point when I thought we were making that change, we have been going backwards over 1600 books banned.

I study stoicism. If you don't know what stoicism is, it teaches the development of self-control as a means of overcoming destructive emotions. It encourages people to focus on what they can control and accept what they cannot, leading to emotional resilience and inner strength.

in too many instances, we've gotten rid of the most important American trait, self-determination, and replaced it with victimization. We've gotten rid of conversation and replaced it with cancellation.

I put forth in the book ten principles for a healthy society and one of them is stop trying to win arguments and focus on solving problems.

So Think You'll Be Happy. I was gonna ask how long did it take and how difficult was it?

So when that happened, I thought you know what and then we looked at when I was showing my publisher my team the last text they were like, that's the title of the book because your mom actually didn't just say Think You'll Be Happy about a sweet potato pie, you know energetically and spiritually that was your mantra to go forward in life.

I love this book because he really brings together theology and therapy in a real way.

I'm a stern believer that you need God and therapy.

I believe that if you read this book and actually do the work that's in here, I tell people this all the time. It may not have been your fault what happened to you, but it is now your responsibility. It's time to do the work.

And the author Robert Jobson, right? He claims that King Charles called out Prince William for using his helicopter, right? A little too much. He was using it a little too much, but he was using it with his wife, Kate Middleton, and their three kids. So basically, King Charles had written up this document and told William, like, yo, you need to sign this acknowledging how much you use it. Like basically a log. Like take responsibility for your actions for borrowing it so much.

So the book is trying to paint it like he just worried about William's well-being and stuff like that. But my UK sources told me he really don't want him on his plane because they don't like him like that. And he don't want him using his stuff. So I can't wait till this book come out.

I mean, I don't get it. A lot of people are like that when it comes to their things. When people have a lot of money, they be like, I don't want you using my thing. I don't care if it's mine my kids could use and my family could use it. It is what it is. Use it, enjoy it. That's me. But King Charles probably like, Prince, you got money, get your own. You know what I'm saying?

The reason why I started this book with this photo is Jack Daniel didn't just put a black man to his right in 1904. He ceded the entire center position of the photo to the black man.

It's improbable because no black person, no person of color and no woman has ever succeeded in this industry ever, not as a founder.

Jack Daniels, the company, didn't realize that distillery number seven ever existed.

So that was Jack's way of saying America's going to try to write you out. I'm not going to allow him to.

If this was another one of the stories where African Americans were done wrong and we were like pushed to the side this story would have had no interest to me. We have enough of those stories.

So I came to two conclusions. Number one, I was here for a purpose. I didn't know what it was, but I was going to figure it out and I was going to live my life that way.
