when I read Robert Caro's first book on Lyndon Johnson, I ejaculated several times as a place marker. I didn't have a bookmark. And later on, I'm like, where was I? Oh, right. The new deal. I'm a massive fan of the historian, Mr. Robert Caro. I've read all of his works. ... The Power Broker about Robert Moses is one of the most amazing historical works in history.

I understand that you may be working on some kind of version of The Power Broker. We are, we are working on.

I think it's a story and a book that needs to get made because the sheer scale and scope of it, but also Moses as a human being, as an individual, if you read that play, uh, play book is staggering.

And that Caro obsession is how people accumulate power and how they use it. And who are the masters at that? And of course the other one is Lyndon Johnson.

I had a big, thick book of maps called the Thomas Guide. And I went way out there and I parked in the parking lot half an hour before I was needed and took out my one little puff. I'm looking at it and I'm like, gloop, gloop.

Our visit coincided with something that is in the Guinness Book of World Records, which is part of the show, which is, there is a ritual there called the haka to the uninitiated. ... they tried to break the world's record for the largest number of people doing the haka at the same time.

And your foreword is by none other than Carol Burnett. How did you pull that off?

Carol Burnett. Well, you know, I've written for Carol. I wrote for her 50th anniversary show, her 90th birthday special. And so I've got to know her casually.

One of my favorite books, like one of my desert island books, if I was allowed like five books on a desert island, one of them would be Killer Angels by Michael Schauer, which I think is one of the most beautiful. It's a novel, but it's historically accurate to the Battle of Gettysburg. And it takes place over three days and all the main players are in there. And I've read that book maybe seven, eight, nine times. I just find it haunting and beautiful.

They have a book called fight, right?

They've written a book. It's all about how to fight correctly.

Their book is called Fight Right, How Successful Couples Turn Conflict Into Connection.

She wrote a book called Taking Back the Game which is all about what's wrong with youth sports and she's always a coach for many years. It's really brilliant book and she has this moment when she talks about possible fixes and one of her fixes is that parents need to stop going to games.

The thing that's special about The Spamalot Diaries is when you were putting Spamalot together, and this is 2004, 2003, 2004. You kept a diary of the entire process of putting it together. You then set the diary aside.

The book is The Spamalot Diaries and it is a joyous read. It's a little harrowing at times, but it's great.

It's a great book for anyone to read who's in the process of trying to make something happen. It could be a Broadway play, it could be anything you're trying to do. It's very inspirational.
