You and I were once talking about the latest book, The Wordy Shipmates by Sarah Val, because you and I, we share a lot of the stuff.

And you were telling me, you said, I was sitting at the coffee place, which I know, and you were sitting there reading Sarah Val's new book.

And I can only think, I'll meet you there. We'll just sit there and read it together and we'll have coffee and say, have you read this thing on page 77? This is amazing.

I have to pick that up. I bet it's great.

I love big mouth and I love that it is absolutely hilarious. And I won't hit this too hard, but I love things that are funny and also have a little secret.

I was a late bloomer and I'm a chronic masturbator and I've killed three people.

And it's been, you know, so much of it is based in stuff that did happen to me and Andrew and others.

I got pants when I was in middle school and got fully exposed to the girl that I had a crush on, and it had a tremendous effect on me for the rest of my life.

And I think now shows and it's not like there are a ton of them, but there's a lot of people out there telling you what it's really like and how it really feels to be ashamed in over your head.

And then you made this fantastic documentary about Gary. And now you've got this book, which is entitled, It's Gary Shanling's Book, which is out right now. And it's fantastic.

Sort of wordplay and silliness. Yeah, wordplay and things, you know, like weird little things, you know, insecticides, you know, spider, spider, spin your web, clean your cleats and scratch your head, don't eat figs, tomatoes or spaghetti, just lie around and throw confetti by E. Levy.

I didn't realize kind of what it was reminiscent of until I read the John Lennon book that came out in 64, Spaniard in the Works.

A few episodes ago on the Zach Galifianakis conversation, you mentioned that you had written to E.B. White, the author of Charlotte's Web.

And he had this book of essays and I wrote him this letter. And I don't know what possessed me, but I dashed it off and I sent it.

All I knew is that in his letter to me, he said, he compliments my writing. And he says, you said you have a hard time taking criticism. You're going to have a tough time as a writer.

I remember going to a pawn shop and getting a Freedom guitar in Hollywood and getting a $90 guitar and a little chord book, the Mel Bay Chord Book and saying, well -

Together, they've authored The Book of Gutsy Women, favorite stories of courage and resilience, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton.

I was stunned at the number of women in this book that obviously there were women that I expected to be in the book. And then there were a bunch of names that I'll admit I was not aware.

I love that this book encompasses the iconic figures from 200 years ago, and someone who's just on the scene right now, who hasn't done her best work yet.

It's just very--you read it, I'd even read it as a, this would be good for me to read. Or it will be good for my daughter to read this. It just feels like, no, I actually think this is a really good book for men to read.

This is not a political book. It is just a book about really fundamental human qualities, human qualities that don't have to be gender specific. But these are women. We're putting the spotlight on women.

And you wrote a book, Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, your memoir. I devoured it because this is the book I've been waiting for.

The book is a joy.

You're an idiot if you don't go out right now and get Eric Idle, Always Look on the Bright Side of Life. It's just a terrific memoir. It really is. It's fantastic.

You can now see him starring in the Netflix series Living with Yourself, which is really fantastic.

I have watched the show and it's terrific.

I went to a bookstore a week ago. I walk in, prominently displayed Neil Young and Phil Baker, To Feel the Music.

A lot of people are very passionate about your attempt to get music to be preserved and recorded correctly so that people hear everything that was there in the studio when it was made.

I read this and you actually talk about this crusade as being the most important thing you feel you've ever done, which is quite a statement coming from you because you've done a lot of important shit.

It's gigantic for earth, for people to be able to hear music like much closer to live when you hear it coming out of your speakers in your house or audio earphones or anything, just to be able to hear all of it.

You're only getting 5% of it, so that's what this book is about.

Amy said that she wanted to call her book, Movies are Boring and acting is embarrassing or something like that because it's just so embarrassing.
