I was floored by what you did in that.

And there's this thing, and again, I don't want to give anything away, but there's this scene that where your character, Rachel, goes to this yoga retreat and these emotions are being drawn out of you in this scene. And there's this kind of whale breakdown that you have that came through the TV set and slapped me around in a way that is, this is a compliment.

It just was like, oh my God, it completely turned me around on your character in a moment. But also I walked away from that thinking, I do not understand. I know that there are great actors in the world. I do not know how Claire Danes was able to do that. I do not know how you were able to do that scene.

I was reading your new book, New Teeth, the other day and I kept shrieking and my wife and kids would come running in the room because they don't hear me laugh like that.

His latest book is a delight. I so love this man's writing. It's called New Teeth and it's available now.

Please if you're listening, go out and get New Teeth and read Clabo because I read it, the entire story out loud to my family because I kept laughing so much.

I've devoured all of your short stories over the years, but there's so many stories in here where I found myself really laughing because it's so funny. But then there's something that feels sweet and real to me at the end that's earned.

When we read that book, Into Thin Air, because it's, you know, Everest is-

and then he was just sort of blinking and looking around the room when he was at a party and he always carried a little camera with him because he was interested in cameras and he would explain his camera to a great length but you didn't you know people wanted Inspector Clousseau at the party and he's not gonna do that yeah unless he's highly paid.

and then that was one of the things I thought that made Bridesmaids so special was how quiet things could be doing that kind of comedy.

It's like this little porcelain comedy that's beautiful.

If there is a book that'll stump you, it's that one.

I got very into I was reading Thomas Pynchon Against the Day.

I remember reading this Bill Bryson book. Walking the Woods. Which one? No, it's a I don't know, A Short History of Nearly Everything. Yes.

I like Aguirre Ranch of God.

I know that this is one of your all-time favorites is the movie Halloween.

And I remember you asked me a question about it. Trying to think if it was about, was it about Mike Myers on Startout Live? Mike Myers and Michael Myers and the connection between the two.

Okay. I remember, I remembered what we were, I remembered we mentioned Halloween at one point.

So I don't remember, but- I do love Halloween.

Well, I mean, you know, the thing about Michael Myers is, I think of him as a truly minimalist villain, which I just love that. You know, I think that's always the scariest.

Oh, there's another movie I really liked, It Follows, which I thought was so terrific.

And it's just this concept of someone slowly walking towards you from like 800 yards away.

And I watched that and I thought, I think a zombie walking is scarier than a zombie running.

I had seen It Follows, I think, by the time I had shot Get Out. And part of that scene where Walter is running straight out, I believe, if I'm not mistaken, I was thinking, well, what I love about the energy of It Follows is anything in any movie that comes from the back of the house towards you is doing the ultimate in film illusion.

It's the train robbery, right? A train coming through, people will dodge out of the way.

And I do love, I mean, things like, movies like Midsommar freaked me out.

So this tells me you are in fact a horror fan and you have very good tastes.

Hereditary goes so crazily off the rails.

It's insane.

Just iconic film.

I love this movie and so scary too.

Oh, she also likes a grizzly man.

It's obviously funny, which I knew it would be, but it's also so sweet and so nuanced and has a great message.

And I thought, well, this is a classic.

And then I think yesterday I was told that it's the biggest animated hit already that Netflix has ever had.

It's a complete smash and I was practically crying, I'm so happy for you and for Adam.

It's very nice. It's really I think it's lasting. I think it's a classic.

She comes back and says One Nation Under Sex. I said, okay, that you picked it. We're going to read it. It goes through the sex lives of all the presidents.

I do have a book I go back to a lot and I think I just read it for the third time was Guns of August because Barbara Tuchman's book on the beginning of World War I.
