I bought Jojo Mayer's new what's that new came out last year his his follow-up to secrets of the modern drummer or whatever the fuck it's called and This is the one he did one a couple years ago

It was about all these different, you know molar techniques and all that type of shit Molar method and all that different grips and all that shit cuz he can play at blinding speeds and never get tired, right?

So now he has a DVD where he breaks it down and Basically now that that knowledge is out there and then he showed everybody how to do it I can't imagine What this next generation of drummers is gonna be this from from day one from the day one When you sit down to learn drums like that information is already on video for you to watch

So I'm always reading like two three at a time. So reading that the ESPN book those guys are having too much fun and I'm also

I feel like Richard Pryor live in concert and Bill Cosby himself run the entire gamut. It's like two perfect games.

Just wire to wire. He's just sitting down killing. Not cursing just like I just you couldn't do it any better as far as just a written special.

Which is just like I don't know that's just I don't know how to describe that style. Just open free going off.

And they give you this book showing you all the wonderful shit that you can make on it And all I've made on it is burgers hot dog and fucking chicken

So I want to take it to the next level. I want to be able to make a pizza, but you gotta know how to make your own fucking dough

Enjoyed your last recommendation because I'm also a World War Two buff. I'm currently reading Kevin Pollock's biography.

I'm reading this great book right now on uh I don't have the title of it. I'll get it for you next week. Lawhead gave me the book Uh, some of the last head bangers or something like that

Are you excited for this new Carlin album? I haven't even heard about it Oh, yeah, wait a minute I did hear it. They thought it was too harsh He recorded it before 9-11 and they didn't release it because it had material that was definitely not appropriate for what was going on at The time I've heard great things, but who knows? I'm absolutely excited about that. He is uh, I mean as far as greatest of all time I have Richard Pryor and then George Carlin just for their bodies of work and How you know, they truly took everything Lenny Bruce Mort's all and all those guys did before them Woody Allen Bill Cosby and they just took it into the modern era And kind of like I don't know that anybody has really gone beyond it like they just sort of They just blew it wide open. I don't feel like you can do it better than those guys

I watched this Coen brother one that I somehow missed The Man Who Wasn't There when it came out this gorgeous black-and-white movie that they shot and it has Billy Bob Thornton Franz McDermott and James Gandolfini, and it's just it's The dude from monk. I'm not good with the names

Just an incredible movie and I will say what was unsettling is how much I related to Billy Bob's character It's sort of a married guy thing and it's one of those things where you know Whatever this I keep forgetting the name of the movie The Man Who Wasn't There It's like everybody sees him, but they don't see him. They don't hear him like with one of the running jokes in the movie is They'll ask him if you know, you want a cigarette and then he just like holds up like The fact that he's already smoking a cigarette like people just like they just sort of talk at him And he says things and nobody like hears him

It's called The Man Who Wasn't There Billy Bob Thornton It's a Coen brother movie and it's fucking hilarious because everybody can see him But nobody listens to him and there's this running joke in the movie where people go like hey, man you want a cigarette and he's like Like he already has one day like they don't even see it. He like he like confesses to a murder Nobody like listens to him
