I read all of I Killed in 2006.

So I was listening to this album Miles Davis Miles Smiles and there's a song on there called footprints and it's one of those things that when I was younger Meaning like 46 or 47 before I started taking lessons It would have just sounded like five guys playing five different songs and then that Tony Williams was doing this Keith moon shit underneath it where he was just soloing or whatever and I was when I first Was listening to it. I the only thing I could kind of that was consistent was the bass line It was this bass line going Got that and I was just counting that I'm going okay. It's in six It's in six and it's and I don't know what Tony's doing and it's he's playing 90 mils million miles an hour But what's amazing about the song is in the middle of it Tony slows down and it's almost like he's like, okay stupid. It's in four All right And here's where it is Here's where beat two is and here's where beat four is and then after then he only does that for a couple bars and he speeds up again It's like a drum class and it's like oh my god, this guy's playing eighth notes Okay Against what this guy's playing that sounds like it's in six, but it's really just almost like three against four I know this is nerdy drum shit But there's got to be a drummer out there that understands it and then he's doing that metric modulation thing Which there wasn't even a fucking name for what he was doing to describe it with then as he's playing eighth notes That the eighth notes then he implies it that each one of those hi-hat hits is the two and four and plays the jazz that ding-ding-ding-ding-ding against that and then the E and the top become the fucking one in the three And he's playing that underneath all of their shit So the rest of the band I guess is sort of playing in an implied six while he's playing four underneath it doing this metric modulation to the four What fucking blows my mind is that he's playing at that fucking level and it roughly the same year I was joking with my teachers that that song by the Archie's sugar came out and was like a number one hit He's doing that and you know, they sell like 190th of the fucking albums That a song ah sugar boo boo boo boo boo boo Honey, honey, doo doo doo doo doo doo.

There's a great book that I read on Norwegian parenting that says that you know when the kid starts crying you just you just kind of you know, you creep up to the Bed and then you kind of look in you just go And that's it you scare the shit out of it and it understands what's going on

Charlie Watts has a great new book out that it's just drummers that influenced him and if you're a drummer and You're into that shit because he's I guess a jazz drummer at heart. He talked about all these fucking Great drummers that I've heard most of the names and Didn't know enough about him and the fact that he could break down their styles and what they did As made me I was already listening to a lot of that shit through some of my drum lessons But really just trying to listen to the shit that he's saying. It's a great book.

I'm reading through that book and I'm reading that WBWC book, which is fucking great.

And there's a book on him and stuff which of course I ordered on Amazon It's like 20 bucks got the hardcover and I Remember I used to take drum lessons.

It has as much soul as Michael Bolton and as much substance as a John Grisham novel.

I'm reading this great book right now on uh I don't have the title of it. I'll get it for you next week. Lawhead gave me the book Uh, some of the last head bangers or something like that

He said the next time he did it, he did a joke about heart attacks and Johnny was really nervous about having a heart attack because he smoked and hated him.

And they made sure that he stayed in the fucking dressing room. They're like, you're never doing the show again and blah, blah, blah and all this type of shit.

He's got a book called Kicking Through the Ashes, My Life as a Stand-up in the 1980s Comedy Boom, which personally is my favorite, Eric, because I watched all of it and that made me want to be a comedian and all that.

You do not sugarcoat any like the what happened, the odds of you making it, anything.

It was really kind of like you just kind of laid it out there.

You've done books in the past and stuff. And how did this whole thing like, I mean, it had to be through just telling stories of guys like me knowing how interested I am in this shit.

I was watching all this I've been reading these World War II books and stuff and just watching some of those like propaganda films that they have, like dude, like the war crimes.

I've been drinking that shit man. I got to tell you something it's delicious.

Not only is it delicious you crave it after a while and I think I dropped like 4 or 5 pounds.

and that guy and fat dead and kind of sick whatever the fuck is called. Fat sick and nearly dead.

I got intowent on Netflix and I started watchingKen Burns The War

if you haven't seen it if you like me and you're late to the party dude like that's my recommendation for the week it's a seven pot on World War two

it's effortless to watch this thing other than the amount of times you have to hit pause and go Jesus Christ
