I read the first one by Jeff but I could not get through Jose's book.

if you guys are even remotely intrigued by true crime and you must be since you're here please do yourself a favor pick up one of her books any of them really and you will forever be sucked in.

This, I feel like I say this every time and I swear I mean it each time. This is one of my favorite true crime authors and he always sheds light on cases that just aren't that well known or not as often talked about.

I love Jack Olsen. I've practically read every Jack Olsen book that he has ever published in his entire life. I love him. You need to read at least one of his books.

Just pick up a copy, start reading it. I promise you, you will not put it down until the sun has set and it's the next day. Like, it's that good.

there is a really good deep dive book on this case. It's called House of Horrors, The Shocking True Story of Anthony Sowell.

This is written by a Robert Ciberna and I just want to say the author interviews over a hundred people. They were impacted by this case.

Families of the victims were interviewed, survivors, relatives of the killer, neighbors, community activists, police officers.

The author even interviewed Anthony in prison so there's a lot of perspective.

He even included Anthony's prison letters that they their correspondence which is which is wild I tell you.

But I implore you to read this book called The Adversary by Emmanuel Carreri.

Now this author actually lived in the same region of France at the same time that Jean-Claude was out and about. He interviewed him in prison for this book. It's honestly such a good book.

There's even a movie that's based off of this case in this book so you know it's good.

there's a really good book on this case called The Sunset Murders by Luis Farr who is an investigative journalist and this is honestly such a well-written well-researched intense read.

Honestly the whole book is rather heartbreaking and this whole case is but the author really put in that work they interviewed over 80 different people went through the court documents the tape recordings the transcripts even visited and interviewed Douglas Clark in prison.

There's also a book called Death on Ocean Boulevard by Caitlin Rother.

She did a ton of research for this case.

It's the most deep dive, thorough book you're gonna get. I highly recommend it.

I highly recommend it. Go give it a read.

there is a really good book on this case called Kill Grandma For Me by James DeFelice and Jim DeFelice.

Now the authors, they did extensive interviews, court documents, they poured through transcripts, other documented sources, found out everything that they could on this case.

And you know they found out everything that they could on this case and truly this is the best deep dive I could find.

It's so well written, I highly recommend giving it a read and this is one of those lesser known cases that it's just not that much talked about but it's wild.

There is though, in fact, a very good book on this case called Pretty Little Killers by Darlene Berry and Jeffrey Fuller.

Now, this is an intense read.

It made me feel, for a lot of the people that were involved,

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that Darlene Berry, the author, she had four kids, two of them were runaways in their teenage years. So she just writes with so much passion, so much compassion too, that it's a fast read.

You get through it so quickly and you're left with this empty feeling in your heart and you feel so uncomfortable. And this is a true story, so it should make you feel that way.

But wow, there is a book on this that is something else. I feel bad even calling it a deep dive because it felt like a full force, just front flip cave dive. It was intense.

It's called She Wanted it All by Catherine Casey.

I tell you, it's meticulous, well researched, but it's so juicy. Can I say that?

I mean, like the sheer amount of ridiculousness, the sheer amount of drama that takes place even before a crime is committed is absolutely insane.

All of those intense details are in this book, so I highly recommend giving it a read. It's truly something else.

There's another book called Deadly Lesson by Ken Englade and this one's really good too.

It's the same author who wrote Cellar of Horror, which is the story about Gary Heidnik, which is really good.

His book on this case was honestly so meticulously researched, so I highly recommend all of that.

This is one ad, one ad. It's like a Craigslist listing, like a want ad, want.

Yeah, like a position wanted house, wanted right employee, wanted.

I mean, and rule this is so well researched, meticulously done. Her information is there. She does countless interviews for practically every book she's ever written.

I mean, she's the queen of true crime. You can't get more thorough, well-researched and honestly, more of a compassionate true crime book than one that comes from an rule.

I highly recommend picking up this book.

there's such a good book on this case called Savage Grace by Natalie Robbins and Stephen M.L. Aronson.

I can't imagine how long that the authors put into this book. They interviewed over 50 people closest to this crazy crazy family and yes the story itself is so wild but the people I mean there's something else. To even sit down and have conversations with these people I can't imagine it to be the biggest headache of my life.

They really put in their work, they got their facts, they got to the details and I just this is a must read. It's straight up a dark twisted at times oddly comedic almost like a homicidal fiction book that's the vibe that it gives me but it's a true story.

There's a book called "Nice Girl" by Rachel Jane Chin which, I mean, she was close to the prosecutors, the police working on this case.

She was meticulous with the details. She poured through transcript after transcript.

This is the best deep dive that you're going to get on this case.

I highly recommend it.

But there is a really good book on this case. You guessed it. Okay. It's called Angel of Darkness by Dennis McDougal. And it's seriously the best deep dive that you're going to find on this case.

So I highly recommend picking up a coffee, a coffee and a copy, honestly, because it's wild.

So there was a conspiracy behind this book, this book, yeah, Angel of Darkness, for quote smearing his good name for wrongfully portraying him as a sick twisted man and scuttling his future prospects for unemployment.

He wanted $62 million in damages. It cost the author and Warner Bros. $50,000 in legal fees.

But the case was dismissed.

But there's two really good books on this case. And even though they're kind of written to be standalone books, I highly recommend reading both of them because it's gripping.

I mean every page of both of these books had me just so distraught, so emotional, so captivated.

But it's called 'Gitchie Girl', the inside story of the mass murders that shocked the heartland. And 'Gitchie Girl', the true story of a night of mass murder and the hunt for the deranged killers.

They're both written by Phil Hamann and Sandy Hamann.

I feel like after reading this, I couldn't even go to the bathroom alone. That's just how intense the story gets.

This might be one of my favorite books of all time. It's a nonfiction book, but it feels like fiction. It feels like all categories. This would be my standout favorite book of the year.

It's called The Monster in Florence by Douglas Preston, who, by the way, worked as an author for the American Museum of Natural History. He taught writing at Princeton University, which I know sounds bougie, but this book is not bougie. This book, anyone can read it.

And honestly, he's the type of author where I'm like, I know that I can't go wrong with any of his books. Now that I've read this one, I'm going to go pick up all of that. And then it was also co-written by Mario Spezi.

I mean, the whole thing is crazy. It's hard to believe that this is a true story. There were so many times where I'm like, is this like a dramatic recreation of a story?

So go check it out.

It's called Evil at Lake Seminole by Stephen Epstein.

Now, Stephen Epstein is actually an attorney in North Carolina.

He's been practicing law for 30 years and it shows in the way that he writes his books.

He also wrote another book about Michelle Young's case in 2019 and that one was heartbreaking.

I mean both of these books are incredible deep dives.
