I just read a book called The Burning which is a book about sort of about politics in India, which makes it sound more serious than it is. It's like a very interesting and it's not fun.

One of the things you talk about is how you felt like Hillary was running for president with half of her humanity tied behind her back.

What's the book called? Killing something? Who are we killing this week? The killers. Ironically, we have gone full circle. He is now Killing the Killers. The Bill O'Reilly book empire is now eating itself.

The absence of these kind of qualities I think may be noted.

For one, humility, the ability to acknowledge errors and learn from mistakes. Most important, empathy. You know, the understanding of other people's point of view and the ability to understand the feelings that they have. And then resilience.

Everyone is broken by life, but afterwards some are stronger in the broken places.

They all were able to control their negative emotions. They were all able to keep their word to the people. They were all able to relax and find time to think and replenish their energies. And they had the courage of their convictions.

I mean, in some ways I think he'd be an ideal leader to take on Mr. Trump today because he could be the center of attention just like Trump. People would follow him wherever he went.

The question I get the most is how do I stay so positive when everything's so damn heavy 28 recall attempts... a pandemic, a plot to kidnap and kill me, climate events... it's been crazy six years and still I love my job.

...one of the things I talk about in the book is the power of listening... it might sound like... oh it's what a lofty wonderful thing... shocker Whitmer... that's a great lesson... most people don't listen very well though.
