So I study everything from the foundations of the religious culture here with the Puritans and the Pilgrims and such to contemporary new religious movements and everything in between. So for me, Heaven's Gate, while it's a fascinating story and while the sort of the strangeness of all the sort of events surrounding suicide are in and of themselves interesting, I see it as part of an unfolding story of American religious history.
