The World of Yesterday An Autobiography

Stefan Zweig's books are always amazing, especially The World of Yesterday about the lives in Vienna prior to World War I.

The World of Yesterday by Stefan Schweig... I've found myself reading twice since Trump's election. But it's just haunting and beautiful, contemporaneous. You know, Stefan Schweig was a great Austrian writer writing this, writing in the midst of World War II his kind of life story. But it's really about the collapse of the liberal order in Europe.

So that was Stefan Zweig, the great Austrian writer in The World of Yesterday, which he wrote in 1942, in the midst of a second terrible world war about the outbreak of the first world war.

So that was Stefan Zweig in The World of Yesterday, and he is describing the afternoon of Sunday the 28th of June 1914.

Zweig in his wonderful book which gives a portrait of the world that was destroyed.

The great Viennese writer, Steffen Zweig who killed himself in 1942 left behind a memoir called The World of Yesterday. It is a heartbreaking book about Vienna that in retrospect didn't stand a chance.

It was a city built on modern thinking. In its art and its politics, in its embrace of science as a foundation of society, it was more modern than many places today.
