The Amityville Horror. It was a truecrime horror story that inspired the famous movie franchise, based on a real murder in a house on 112 Ocean Avenue.

Prentice Hall as the publisher in 1977 released the Amityville Horror, was a huge bestseller.

42 weeks on the bestseller list by 1981 sold six and a half million copies.

They were all over the country plugging this book.

And the Lutz's were household names. They're like on every talk show you could imagine.

He did admit to getting about 100 grand from the book and another hundred from the film.

He said yeah man the book got a bunch of stuff wrong. The movie got a ton of stuff wrong because I think the Ryan Reynolds remake of the movie was supposedly billed as this is way more true to the book.

So George Lutz would say all these people got all these details wrong. But this stuff we said happened really happened.

I don't care because I was 10 years old when everyone started talking about that book. And it's one of the scariest things of all time.

I didn't understand it myself.

I know I've said this a thousand times, the hardback cup, the hardback book of the Amityville Horror.

So it was shaped like a paperback, but it had a hard white cover.

I was a huge fan of the book. Me and sister Rita Rose.

What I loved about the book was the fact or this story, whether or not it's true is it starts out as, oh, they find out this horrible thing happened in their house, but then they find out that there's something else going on.

I just remember how excited I got when I went to check out the Amityville Horror book at my grammar school library and sister Rita Rose, who was the oldest nun in the game, still wearing a habit.

And that book has since been spun off into movies and TV shows.
