The speaker started writing this book in 2009 and it came out in 2010, based on observations of Tea Party activists consciously mirroring Saul Alinsky's tactics.
When I started writing Wingnuts a decade ago, I began writing it in 09, came out in 2010. And it was based on my reporting at then what was sort of this idea of an extremist beat, which hadn't really become a thing yet.
