The Canterbury Tales (Penguin Clothbound Classics)

I think one appears in the Canterbury Tales, Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, The Wife of Bath, I believe, where they're just always in a good mood. They have money. They're independent. They don't take any guff from anybody.

Neville Coghill did, who was the great scholar who translated it for the Penguin classics, which I originally gave you to read, but you said, no, full in, let's go for the middle English.

I began reading Canterbury Tales and it struck me completely afresh the excitement of it because Chaucer is writing at a time where the plague is endemic in London.

you get the impression he's reading Dante, he's reading Chaucer, he's getting interested in those stories and that's driving a lot of this.

Well, it's a reference to Chaucer, the Canterbury Tales.

But if we were doing famous, you know, quotes from English literature, we probably would go over in that category. What is the Canterbury Tales?

In regards to a Knight's Tale, the reason Jeffrey Chaucer is a character is because the whole movie is loosely based on a short story called the Knight's Tale, which was in the Canterbury Tales.

This is the prologue to The Canterbury Tales.

When that April with his shoures soote The droghte of March hath perced to the roote, And bathed every veine in swich licour Of which vertu engendred is the flour;

Chaucer at Woodstock with the Nightingales at 60 wrote the Canterbury Tales,
