He does have a new book out. Norm is just a nerdy. And I mean that in the best way possible. I love nerds. I live in Washington DC. They're my neighbors and my friends. He'll be great.

I know from the years I spent on campaign buses and foreign capitals and in the Oval Office that there's always more to a story under the surface.

You write about the first time you met President Obama, then Senator Obama. How'd it go?

I talk about that in the book too. That is not how people make decisions. They make decisions by emotions and how you make them feel.

I talk about in my book the mother in law test and my mother in law is a retired teacher incredibly well read very smart pay attention to the news.

I talked about this a little bit in the book about people who in the White House briefing room would raise questions from a straw man perspective right everybody's saying this.

jen i was just watching you watch her at that first white house press briefing gosh it feels so long ago it feels so long ago it looked like i was watching a mother watch a daughter oh i i just remember so like it was yesterday how nervous i was that day and i talked a little bit about this in the book but just feeling like i just need to go out there and not screw up i had a little shimmy before i went out korean john pier and i now the press secretary had a little shimmy before i went out and i just remember thinking and i'd had this conversation with president biden as i also talk about in the book about how the country was so frazzled was so frayed the nerves of the country were so frayed and the best thing i could do a small sliver on that day was to try to settle some of the nerves and so it just really brings me back to that moment watching now
