But it's the classic thing of, it's the brainwashed assassin.

The person who doesn't know they're an assassin, where you can literally program someone, I guess like Arnold Schwarzenegger in Total Recall, to go assassinate somebody.

The book, The Manchurian Candidate, and the movie have a big impact on this program.

When that comes out, it gets them another wave of interest.

The book The Manchurian Candidate is about a bunch of Americans who get captured by the Chinese and then sent back to the United States having been secretly programmed to damage the United States.

Well, The Manchurian Candidate was a famous movie and book starring Frank Sinatra, Laurence Harvey, and I think Angela Lansbury.

Originally a book which was published in 1959 and the Frank Sinatra film is like 1963 or something so it's very quick afterwards and essentially Frank Sinatra and all of his mates were at war and they come back and Frank Sinatra keeps having this really weird dream and I think it's really well done because it's like you know when you're in a dream and there's a person but they're in the wrong place and they capture that so well.

So long story short it's not a spoiler the film is 100 million years old. It is revealed that one of Frank Sinatra's mates has been brainwashed to be an assassin and he's not in control of himself and he's triggered by the Queen of Diamonds.

So that's what a Manchurian candidate is, is a assassin that you are in complete control of but they don't know and they will have no memory of what they have done.

The lawyer's tale has all the makings of a great conspiracy theory If not a science fiction thriller akin to the mensurian candidate

It comes from a fiction novel, right? It's not like a super secret, real Soviet program. But in this novel, a son of a political dynasty is brainwashed into becoming an assassin for the communes.

This is not the same as, say, a sleeper agent, where I think a lot of people kind of misconstrue those concepts where someone is deployed as like a basic civilian and then whenever they're given a particular order or code word or whatever, they are activated and then they carry out these instructions. This is much deeper. This is someone who is given a code word that all of a sudden switches their brain and makes them into a killing automaton of sorts, right?

Well, I see but okay, let's just let's game it out for a second. Sure. Let's imagine that Sirhan Sirhan, the man who you know killed Robert Kennedy, um, let's just say while he's there at that event, he this stuff is blown into his face and he has given a gun and he is told you need to kill Robert Kennedy, you have to kill Robert Kennedy. Yeah, and because I see where you're going, because he doesn't have a memory, yeah of doing this, he comes to, however um, that's I would say that's like a that's like a microwave Manchurian Candidate, right?

Micro Manchurian because again of that time window, right? You could um, in the Manchurian Candidate story in the fiction, right? The idea is that you could have this effect buried for years and then trigger it, but what you're describing now, you pointed out dude, that does sound possible, right?

So Sirhan has actually gone into this Manchurian candidate territory, I guess you would call it because as we said, he was sentenced to life in prison. He did not receive the death penalty and he has continued his the appeals process. He claims he has no recollection of the murder whatsoever.

In an appeal in 2011, his lawyers repeated this previous assertion and they had reports from people they said were experts who said that Sirhan Sirhan was programmed through hypnosis to fire shots as a diversion for the real killer.

In reality, hypnosis can make you forget, recall stuff, act a bit silly, but apparently it cannot make people act against their will or against their moral and ethical codes.
