I thought, why don't I take a shot at actually writing about the opposite end of that spectrum, writing about something that makes people feel uplifted, happy.

I joke that it's easier to get a crystal meth addict to stop becoming being a crystal meth addict than it is to pry the cell phone away from my children or cell phone or iPad or whatever electronic device they're on.

I'm always fearful of my children losing their innocence.

"

And let's break them down very simply. First, Dr Gad, what are the ideas that you've shared that have got you in the most trouble?

In your book you talk about a mate desirability score.

one of the things I argue in the happiness book is yes, make sure to meet someone who matches you and your mating value and work hard at making sure that you stay at the right mating value.

So I argue, I predict, although I haven't tested it, that what will predict the likelihood of a couple staying together into the future is whether their mating, overall mating scores stay in line or they begin to diverge.

So in the Happiness Book, I have an entire chapter whereby I argue that everything in life, the number one universal rule of optimal flourishing is to find the sweet spot irrespective of any context that you're talking about.

Gad Saad discussed his book 'The Sad Truth About Happiness,' highlighting the concept of suicidal empathy and how misdirected empathy can lead to detrimental public policies.

"

Indeed, the late Canadian comic norm McDonald famously put out a tweet a few years ago before he passed away where he I'm paraphrasing I don't have the tweet in front of me, where he said, you know, if the if Islamic terrorists were to detonate a nuclear bomb that killed 50 million people, it will be really important the day after to make sure that there isn't a rise in Islamophobia.

And I don't mean forgive the plug, but my next book is going to be titled Suicidal Empathy.

It precisely speaks to that when when I mean, empathy is a great emotion to have. And there's an evolutionary reason why we are empathetic creatures.

But when empathy is misdirected, when empathy is hyper activated on the wrong target, you end up with public policies that are absolutely insane, right?

So vets become less important than Guatam Allens. I mean, American vets, the homeless become more important than the kids who should be able to play in parks without having, you know, needles filled with the drugs.

"

I'm so happy to be back, although I'm a bit dismayed that it's not sure whether I'm the most frequent guest. Please check and get back to me with those stats.

But talk to me about how the tan and the weight loss are connected to this whole thing, and then we'll get onto everything else.

I have the uncorrected proof here, so I don't know if you added any additional happiness photos or anything.

I think from my heaviest weight to my lightest, I dropped 86 pounds. And I did it by repeatedly making the right decision on a daily basis.

So in the last chapter of my forthcoming happiness book, I have a quote by Viktor Frankl where he basically says, don't pursue directly success. It is something that comes as a consequence.
