The book was discussed as being about leadership, but applicable to everyone, focusing on challenging oneself to grow by confronting personal baggage from childhood. The author expressed a deep wish that someone would find a tattered paperback edition years later and say the book made a difference in their life.
In this episode, we're going to do a deep dive into his new book just out. It's called Reboot Leadership and the Art of Growing Up.
This is a book about leadership but a lot of people, I wonder if people in the audience are going to say, well, I'm not a leader, I don't run anything, I'm just a worker or a parent or whatever. Therefore, this book's not for me. How do you respond to that?
The challenges of leadership and the challenges of work represent us with an opportunity to confront and work with the parts of ourselves that we'd really rather not. And if we choose to do so, not only will we become a better leader but will actually grow up.
And I'm super excited about it. It's, you know, as I write in the book, for a boy who's suffered a sense of not being heard to finally have his words being read is exciting and terrifying.
And my deep wish is that somewhere down the line, five years from now, someone comes across some tattered paperback edition that's all marked up and says this book is really making a difference in my life.
