It's about these Texas Rangers, they went into Mexico and they got paid per scalp.

It's about this group that goes down in there and they lose it.

They go after tribes that are attacking Americans.

They go after peaceful societies, kids, and they would pick up babies and smash them.

The audiobook of Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy is, like, the trippiest possible-- it's an extraordinary book that's basically like a sort of 20th century Dante explaining an absolutely hellacious experience of a bunch of people in the mid19th century along the TexasMexico border. The guy who reads it has the most incredible, sonorous Southern accent. It's just this, like, amazing auditory experience.

He's like the judge in Blood Meridian.

Starting in like 2021, kind of late, you know, early pandemic period, I started chatting with a good friend of mine, Cormac McCarthy, about bringing one of his books to life in the way he'd always intended, which was by having me read Blood Meridian in my award-winning Boston accent in its entirety.

We finished, you know, kind of our discussions right before he tragically passed earlier this year.

Sophie and I recorded the whole thing. We were about to release it as a surprise, but we've, as a result of the writers and now the actors strike, in solidarity decided to delete the entirety of Boston Blood Meridian.

I think like Blood Meridian is, is challenging in some ways that aren't different.

Cause like so much of reading Blood Meridian is like, what the fuck did he mean by that?

Like what was the action? Like what was going on here?

Blood Meridian is a lot, is, is much more closer to like a normal novel than, than Finnegan's Wake is though.

But like they're both interesting.

if you've read the book Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, it'll kind of remind you of that. It's not based on that book, it's not, the story is not the same but I would say it's in the spirit of that book.

It might be that 60, 70, 80% of listeners don't know to bring it back to Corinth McCarthy, Corinth McCarthy saying that someone rode ahead with the horn of fire.
