Exodus (The Ravenhood Book 2)

I just did a seminar on exodus in Miami we it was 16 two hour sessions they've been released on youtube and we did one eight day session and then we broke for six months and did another eight day session and one of the things we did we brought together nine people and we kind of knew each other but not that well and there was a wide range of opinions on the panel from moderate left to pretty socially conservative no real progressive types but certainly people on the moderate left and we found we were really attempted to be hospitable to all of our guests so in addition to having the seminar lay itself out for two hours each evening I hosted people continually at an Airbnb that I rented there and we barbecued together and I rented people some jet skis and we had some fun and like each night was a party and at the same time that that was happening it was also while we were walking through exodus and through other elements of the Old Testament and I was struck by the immense emphasis in those texts on the absolute sacred nature of hospitality right as a duty and I came to understand thinking that through but also watching what was happening with this seminar was that if you're hospitable to people and this is partly speaks to the necessity of an actual localized community then they begin to trust each other at a fundamental level there's a core of consensus and trust there mutual regard for mutual well-being that then enables experimentation to take place at the cognitive fringes in an atmosphere of trust right and humor

I was fortunate enough to conduct a seminar in Exodus in Miami and one of the stories we evaluated in some depth was the story of the burning bush.

Which happens to be my favorite book of the Bible because there's it applies to today so much and we need deliverance from this terrible tyrannical regime that we're living under right now and

That when when Moses was called

And it's important to remember Moses was called he didn't sign up for this. He was called into service

That every single one of the plagues was a direct refutation of one of the Egyptian gods

The Leon Eurus book Exodus is all about boats that are illegally attempting to land in British man-aid Palestine because Jews want to go there and they want to live there.

This reminds me of a verse we've encountered a lot of times this year, Exodus 34, 6-7. In that passage, God is telling Moses his name by describing himself, and he says he keeps love for a thousand generations and only punishes to the third or fourth generation.

If you read Exodus, one of the things that Moses was tempted with at the time was false idols.

And so here Speaker Johnson being tempted by Marjorie Taylor Greene's pitch to him, which is I won't file this motion of vacate, Mike, if you do the things I ask.

Perhaps what we see in Exodus where Moses says in Exodus 32, don't blot me I pray thee out of thy book which thou hast written.

Don't take my name off the census, so to speak. Don't boot me out of the community. Keep me on the roster. Exactly.

The first one is what's called the altar of burnt offerings. And then the second item is called the brass laver.

The Book of Exodus describes in great detail all the different inside internal bits of the animal.

The Book of Exodus says that when the high priest approaches the Ark of the Covenant, he will meet him there.

In Exodus chapter 40 and maybe part of Leviticus chapter 9, we get a description of how this entire system was constructed and then finally dedicated, literally sanctified or handed over to the Lord to be his dwelling place.

In Exodus chapter 40, we are told that this is going to be the moment of dedication.

It's great to remember back to Moses, but now they have their own and remember the captivity of thy fathers in the land of Hebrew.

There's your Exodus 14 and 15 right there.

That's Moses language.

And actually, the covenants that go back to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the covenants of the patriarchs were, and you see this in both Exodus, you see it in Deuteronomy, and even in First Nephi, the reason the Lord redeems Israel is because of the covenant to the patriarchs.

What I think is incredibly important is what the Lord says, because Moses might be looking for a pat on the back.
