Molly, you know, listen, there are two people out there who I think are the biggest narrative busters on the right. You, Sean and Tucker, you go throw a hit with an S in front of a grenade in the tent in a heartbeat.

Episode: Did The Rittenhouse Prosecutor Really Say That? (E...

Molly Hemingway discussed her book, "Rigged," highlighting the media's role in shaping the narrative of the Rittenhouse trial and how this influenced the prosecution's case.

"

She was great.

The media is the biggest cancer in our society right now. Not all the media, but the corrupt lying media

It just is a sign of how incompetent this prosecution was.

They were describing getting your getting beat up with a skateboard, having guns pointed at you being chased as just a tussle that everybody should expect or this idea that if you take steps to protect yourself, that you lose the right to self-defense. None of this makes any sense.

It is as Dinesh was saying, as if they took some of the media claims that were made and treated them as if they were real when they weren't.

Episode: The Daily Mail Blows The Lid Off The Biden Scandal...

It covers Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook's actions to interfere in the 2020 election, including the funding of government election offices in Democrat-leaning districts to boost voter turnout and the use of funds to hire Democrat activists in government offices. The author explained how this was done within election administration, not through typical billionaire campaign spending.

"

In my new book, Rigged, I tell the story of how Mark Zuckerberg, who's one of the world's most powerful and wealthy men, funded the takeover of government election offices that are in charge of voter registration, voting and vote counting.

He spent nearly half a billion dollars giving it to two left-wing groups that gave the money to governmental election offices, predominantly in Democrat cities in key swing states.

And with those funds, they did targeted Democrat voter outreach, designing ballots, translating ballots and staffing the operations that handled ballot harvesting, the curing of ballots and the counting of ballots.

And to be clear, this is not campaign spending. This was a concierge level get out the vote operation on behalf of Joe Biden and other Democrats in key Democrat areas in swing states.

This is something that had never happened before. And this was done inside the election administration, not outside where billionaires normally spend their money.

This is the language of the time magazine story

Zuckerberg in this letter, Joe Jim Jordan said he doesn't agree with those analyses but he won't be contributing nonetheless

in the context of all of the concerns about what happened that is a response I think probably most prominently to my former boss Molly Hemingway who wrote a book basically about what happened after Zuckerberg made those contributions called rigged

It explored the history of covert electoral interference, detailing operations by the Soviet Union and the US during the Cold War and Russia's ongoing interference in elections around the world, including the 2016 US election.

"

What I reveal in my book Rigged is that there's a vast history of covert operations to interfere in elections from Soviet and American operations during the Cold War to Russian operations around the world today to 2016 in its aftermath.

I interviewed more than 130 people for this book including many former CIA officers eight former CIA directors and they emphasized to me as well we should learn from our own history from Soviet history and then really study and get into the weeds of 2016 because then and only then can what happened to America make sense in my opinion a totally nonpartisan way as it should be and can we actually think about how to defend ourselves in a comprehensive real way that escapes the toxicity of our current moment.

I wanted to make sure to incorporate his views into my book and I mean it was fascinating because he was able to bring to life I've been reviewing KGB archives but he really was able to bring to life the KGB perspective in terms of how they would manipulate the politics of democracies.

Episode: 419: David Shimer | 100 Years of Covert Election I...

It explored the history of covert election interference, detailing operations by both the US and Russia. It was argued that the interference aims to undermine democracy and sow discord, not necessarily help a particular candidate.

"

When in fact what I reveal in my book rigged is that there's a vast history of covert operations to interfere in elections from Soviet and American operations during the Cold War to Russian operations around the world today to 2016 in its aftermath.

What he told me about were his operations to interfere in elections against Richard Nixon or Republican and then Ronald Reagan or Republican.

From the perspective of a non-democratic regime, open democratic elections are just a right target.

They're an irresistible opportunity to manipulate the direction of either Western democracies or even the United States itself because they're so penetrable they're so manipulatable.

The book is called rigged, we'll link to it in the show notes.

Episode: 419: David Shimer | 100 Years of Covert Election I...

It was revealed that covert election interference has been going on for over 100 years, primarily by the Soviet Union and later Russia, and not necessarily to support a specific candidate, but to destabilize democracies globally.

The second thing he really emphasized to me was he talked to me about how America's diversity from the Soviet perspective is an enormous vulnerability that whereas I think it's in the American tradition as I believe that our diversity is a core strength of our nation. From their perspective it's right for subversion you can take divisions along race or religion or otherwise and pit Americans against each other through propaganda, through staged hate crimes or otherwise in order to both divide Americans from one another and to do great America's image and eyes of the world and he would execute operations to do so in the cold war and as we saw in 2016 Russia predominantly sought to target black Americans and so racial discord in our own electorate.
