This reminds me of the novel Solaris by Stanislaw Lem, which was published in the 60s, which was really quite a deep novel, much deeper than the movie that was made of it. Did you ever read that book, Solaris? I'm not familiar with the movie either. The original novel, in essence, there's this ocean coating the surface of some alien planet, which has amazingly complex fractal patterns of organization and it's also interactive, like the patterns of organization on the ocean respond based on what you do. When people get near the ocean, it causes them to hallucinate things and even causes them to see simulacra of people from their past.

David Brin... he wrote a book called The Transparent Society, where he said there's two possibilities, surveillance and surveillance. It's like the power elite watching everyone or everyone watching everyone.

Valentin Turchin, a friend of mine who was the founder of Russian AI, he wrote a book called The Phenomenon of Science in the late 60s.

Werner Vinge, he was a math professor at San Diego University, actually. But wellknown science fiction writer. His book, Fire Upon the Deep, one of the great science fiction books ever.

When he wrote Notes from Underground, which I would highly recommend to everyone who's listening, it's a great book and it's a very short book.

I wrote the forward for the new version of Solzhenitsyn's Gulag Archipelago, the abridged version. It came out November 1st.

And one of the best books I ever read, young comics out there, read Enter Talking by Joan Rivers about her early days in stand up and acting. It's really good book.

It's called the meat eater fishing game cookbook recipes and techniques for every hunter and angler.

It's broken into a bunch of chapters where it has big game, small furred game like rabbits, hares, squirrels, upland birds, waterfowl, freshwater fish, saltwater fish, shellfish and crustaceans, reptiles and amphibians. It explains everything from how to break down and process and freeze stuff, with many recipes and beautiful pictures.

We have a picture in the book of some morel mushrooms of the size of these water bottles. Wow. We've had morel mushrooms that are about the size of my hand.

There's a good book that was published a few years ago, The Big Oyster, I think, Mark Kolanski.

In that book, Kolanski brings up a premise and I'm loosely interpreting it now because I read this book a few years ago. He talked about how the island of Manhattan was a perfect oyster situation on the East Coast.

An ounce of oyster is five grams of protein, and a medium oyster has got 10 grams of protein. A destitute person could survive on oysters alone.

Interesting. So have you ever read Sex at Dawn? What did you think of that? No offense, but I think it's total crap.

Chris is a very smart guy and he's a good friend of mine. It's also a great book. It is a great book.

And Wrangham argues, and I think quite rightly, that the only way you can achieve that is by releasing more nutrients from your food. And the only way you can release more nutrients from your food is by cooking it. So when he made that argument, he thinks it goes back to the beginning of Homo erectus... That's the book Catching Fire.

The Spell of the Sensuous is a great book... the opening to the book wow ... he was living amongst his people and described a starfilled sky reflected in a paddy field.

Chris Ryan was trying to explain it to me one day. Dr. Chris Ryan from Sex at Dawn, the book. And he was saying that there's an imprinting stage in young men's lives where like they, like even a young man that's not gay, like say during this imprinting stage when they're very young, if they get their dick sucked by a guy and they orgasm, they could potentially get turned on by guys sucking their dick even if they're not gay.
