I got a book called The Burning by Tim Madigan about the Tulsa race massacre, which was very eyeopening and astonishing that I did not learn that in history.

She's in a book, The Art of Power.

You must demonstrate a plan, and you must act without hesitation. The minute you hesitate, your options are diminished. The longer you wait, the more your options are diminished.

You talk in the book about what makes a good speaker. You say strategic know-how, a policy background, and above all else, intuition.

And then a book called Last Call, I can't remember the author's name. It's about the history of how prohibition happened and how it got amended into the United States Constitution, and it's an absolutely brilliant recitation of the history of how it happened and how it failed.

One is Taking America Back by David Austin Walsh, which is a kind of history of the rights, half-hearted, let's say, attempts to police anti-Semitism.

Wuthering Heights, which I just finished, a classic novel.

I'm going to stick with the theme of the 19th century and recommend Freeman's book The Field of Blood, which looks at political violence inside Congress in the 1830s, 40s and 50s.

It examines actual brawls between congressmen, weapons, and how that violence culminated in the Civil War, offering a lens to understand today's political divisions.

There are these lines in Last White Man, Mohsen Hamid's beautiful new book that I keep coming back to.

So the novel begins with a young man named Anders who thinks of himself as white. And he wakes up one morning and he's dark.

It's a beautiful formalistic book, the kind of book that sort of imprinted on the way I thought for a little while.

I really loved it. I really recommend people listening pick it up. There's so much beyond what you heard here.

I went back recently to read Harris's 2009 book, Smart on Crime.

It was a very different book than I'd expected. I'm used to the gauzy, memoirish quality of quickie campaign books.

This is a book not about her. It is about policies and programs that she thought as a DA were promising to prevent and reduce crime, promising to make prison a place of rehabilitation rather than a place that turns out more hardened criminals.

She goes on, quote, I believe that people have a right to feel safe on the streets and in their homes, and they have a right to keep and protect the things for which they've worked.

Oh, Pachinko is an amazing book. Oh, I love it.

My first would be a novel called The Known World by Edward P. Jones about Ante Billum, Virginia, one of the most astonishing novels I've ever read. One of my favorite American novels. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

And I would say read some poetry of Sylvia Plath. Read 2666 because I think it was our first 21st century masterpiece.

And I was just reading the book she released for her 2020 campaign

People were looking for as I want more thing on this because it had occurred to me while reading her book

The other book I read has a title called The Power Law, and the subtitle is The Venture Capital and the Making of the New Future by Sebastian Mallaby.

So first, most recently I read Black Pill which has actually been reviewed in the Times. It's about the transition from the sort of incels fear to the altright and it is a wronging read.

The author of the fantastic book, Number Go Up. Inside Crypto's Wild Rise and Staggering Fall.

Your great book, which I love and recommend to people, Number Go Up, is all about the embrace of the idea.

In Number Go Up, I was investigating the use of stablecoins.

I'm thinking of like Rutger Bregman's Utopia for Realists, right, where he talks about a 15-hour work week or he talks about open borders or universal basic income.

The third one that I want to recommend is Jefferson Cowie's Freedom's Dominion, a saga of white resistance to federal power.

the first book I read it's a book where magic comes from knowing the true name of things and it's also a meditation on hubris in this case of a person with thinking they can push magic very far I read it now as a technologist

I still think everybody should read Jared Diamond's Guns, Germs and Steel.

I'm reading John le Carr, which I'd never read before just because I wanted to switch it up. So I'm reading Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
