Well, later, Ryan McFadden insisted that the email had been inspired by the Brad Easton Ellis novel American Psycho, which is read in some Duke literature courses.

According to Newsweek, two sources close to the team supported McFadden's insistence, saying that the email was clearly a reference to the book, and later the movie, called American Psycho.

In the movie, a Wall Street banker played by Christian Bale goes crazy and kills several women, though possibly only in his dreams.

I started off with just the passion to do it and I had to see if my words are real. So I got a stenographer. I would just speak to her and over months and then I took a crew back to Tunica, Mississippi where I'm from.

And then we started talking about some football topics and a very funny guy. And he said, I got some writing friends. You know, let's put something together.

So that was a few months back. And then we were able to get this book published and a lot of fun things in there.

I wrote a book a while ago called Fantasy Life and the book is it's the story of my life. But in addition throughout woven throughout are all these like crazy stories around the obsession of fantasy football, right? And just the crazy trades people have made the things they have done the loser punishments, etc, etc.

Marley and Me is the only movie I think that's made me, like, really cry.

And then I thought, Doug, to myself, how in the world could this family have imagined that this story would be not only turned into a movie, but make the $300 million that you said that it ended up making that would lead to Sandra Bullock winning an Oscar for? There's one exception. Remember when he wrote his first book, I think it was 2011. He did a media tour and that was I think it was called Against All Odds or something like that.
