I fell prey once to James Fray, The Million Little Secrets. Oh, Million Little Pieces. Million Little Pieces. And I read it and I was like, dude, I have to believe it. Because he was a guy who was an addict and part of it was like him going to the dentist, but he wouldn't take drugs. It turned out it was all made up. I was like, I'm never reading a memoir that I'm not, that anybody is not going. That's not true.

There's a book that I read, Perfect Storm.

One of the very few books I read, The Perfect Storm, about those sword fishermen.

About the fishermen? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And a couple of guys, they got sucked down there with some of the bait and they drowned. They thought they were dying, but then they pulled them up eventually and they said, when you're drowning, you just see your whole life from childhood to having your first baby. All of these big major events just start flashing.

I've read The Perfect Storm, which is they made a movie about that like Mark Wahlberg, you know,

She put out a book and it's called I'm Glad My Mom Died and it's a serious book.

In the book, she talks about how she no longer wants to be called a former child star because she's trying to do stuff now.

Like every time they introduce her and she's a singer and she's an actress, they're like former child star, Jeanette McCurdy. She's like, I just don't want to be called former child star anymore.

Jeanette McCurdy, she put out a book and it's called I'm Glad My Mom Died and it's a serious book.

And she talked about a lot of the stuff that like her mom did when she was a kid actor.

It was not a good look for the mom, but that's not really what the story is about.

Have you seen the new It Ends with Us? I haven't yet. My wife saw it, but I was like, I don't know if I'm really too into it.

Movies like that, that's based on a book that I'm never going to read.

A couple of years ago I read the book "It Ends with Us", and I finally made it to the theater to see the movie and I really liked the book but it tackles some serious subjects but I thought the movie was really well done and I just was so invested in the Blake Lively drama.

it's just heavy stuff it's not like domestic abuse right yeah but they have nothing to do with each other the Blake Lively stories from forever and this movie but she's doing promotion for this movie and a lot of the drama came from her and the Justin guy and it just is yeah well then her emotion she's acting like hey grab your girlfriends go out for a fun movie night like la la la and it's all about like pretty outfits and whatnot and it's like hello you're missing a big thing that this could be so impactful for women to go and watch and realize like oh maybe I need to remove myself from a situation that's not good for me

Oh, cool. Also a book called Alive. Yeah.

It is a true story, but I'm not gonna ruin anything is it that book again miracle in the Andes?

I've read the book I tried to start the movie, but reading the book and having your own Your imagination go to where they had to go is one thing but watching it on a screen

And then the one about the convicted guy jury.

Oh, yeah. You all made me read that.

It's really good. Does he go into any villages and fight anybody? No, he doesn't go to any villages, but he does, I mean, he tells you all about his... Partying days? Partying days and about how he hated tennis and his dad was just a rough dude out there practicing every day, hours, going, Dad, I don't want to play anymore. Get out there and hit balls. Get out there.

Lunchbox Open the autobiography of Andre Agassi. It's a good it's really good.

Is it good book? Yeah, he also was an astronaut in the book now that I think about it

It's about this adventure racing team that comes across a stray dog in the wilderness. Oh, it's so good. And the dog like follows them. Yeah, I don't want to give too much. The story is true. And the guy wrote a book about it, but yes. And the whole adventure with the dog of what happens and it's just one of the adventure racing wild. What they do.

It's actually in theaters tomorrow and it's a true story and it's about this dog that just like followed him and then ends up being their buddy and help just a crazy, true, amazing story.

I just read a book called Gambler by Billy something. It's a really long book. Phil Mickelson is the worst dude. He's the worst human. What do you mean the worst dude? Like all the stories.

Yeah. See, this is funny because we talked about that. Phil Mickelson's a bad dude. Bryson DeChambeau. And I'm like, he just rubs me the wrong way. He seems too nice. He's a douche and a bad dude. I feel like I can be douchey at times, but I'm not a bad dude. Phil Mickelson, bad dude.

But it's about this guy's story of sports gambling. How he lost millions. Started it. But Phil Mickelson is a big part of the book because they were friends. Phil Mickelson's a bad dude. Yeah. Anyway, but Phil's also gambled over a billion bucks.

At first I was like, okay this is fun, it's cheesy, bunch of ladies and friendship, Dolly, cheesy one-liners, Dolly.

You freaking tore me apart when I watched that movie.

Ah man, Amy, like I remembered a bunch of cackling hands, kind of annoying and then it's like, it does get really sad.

Like when I watch movies, I want to feel and boy does it make you feel.

It's a book then a play.

Get to work on your book, man. I just read Project Hail Mary and I loved it. I recommend getting the large print version and thank me later. Seriously. I need to talk about this book with someone because I'm the only person I know who has read it and can't talk about it.

I have started reading Project Hail Mary. I am about one fourth of the way through the book now, which is huge for me.

I'm still working on the Hail Mary project. It's Project Hail Mary. Project Hail Mary, same thing. It's close enough.

At the end of filming, Robin came to my trailer and he gave me a gift. It was a signed copy of The Groucho Letters signed by Groucho Marx. He said someone gave it to him because he reminded them of Groucho. And Robin gave it to me and said, it's because that I reminded him of him.

Stephen King did put out another book called Rattlesnakes, which does serve as the sequel to Cujo, primarily focusing on the human characters taking place in the aftermath of Cujo, which, spoiler alert, doesn't turn out so great.

Everything was big and rolling before COVID and then COVID hurt us all in our own ways, me especially with the momentum and I had to start over.

Yeah, I had to start over from scratch because I basically did nothing for like a year and a half to two years because they didn't want me to do Zoom radio tour because I'm already left of center and Zoom can be difficult anyway.

I just had this like notion one day of why am I making music that I would not wanna play for my favorite artists in the genre? Why would I not wanna run to someone like Chris Stapleton or Brothers Osborne or Sturgill Simpson and go, you've got to listen to this. Why am I not making that? And why am I listening to other people about who I am or chasing trends when I've always been this sort of gritty soulful thing?

he actually writes about that in Chronicles his book and basically especially with the dead he's saying that like he went out with the dead and he was feeling really down and Jerry Garcia especially is really pushing him to play V songs he barely remembers from the 60s and stuff and it kind of got him out of his funk and I think it's notable that even though those shows with the dead are not very highly regarded that's the year before the so-called never-ending tour starts he does these shows the dead Jerry Garcia really tries to drag him out of this downward spiral he's in and sort of he recommits himself to the road to playing his catalog to you know digging up obscure songs and basically has been doing it other than the couple years of the pandemic every single year ever since.
