The real shock to me from going to Sing Sing and the reason why I kept going is because I can't believe how many innocent people I found there.

Each man that I feature in the book was convicted of murder. But when I started to look into their cases, I was astonished to find how unbelievably apparent evidence of innocence was in each of those cases.

In the case of Richard Rosario, he had 13 alibi witnesses and he was a thousand miles away in Florida when he was accused of a crime in New York. And he gave police this information and they didn't do anything for 20 years.

Really what ended up happening is that when I started visiting him and getting to know him and his family, I saw how good of a man he was.

It's only two weeks after my book, The Sing Sing Files, comes out that he's being exonerated. If it took him, a guy like that, this much, God help everybody behind him.

And I've poured it all into my new book, The Sing Sing Files.

My book is so much bigger than the stories I told on those episodes and in those podcasts.

In The Sing Sing Files, I'll introduce you to six innocent men, all wrongly imprisoned.

It was really strange, you know, him and Black palling around in Galveston amongst the homeless.

I have a really good source that was close to the defense team and I was told that Durst, he was extremely concerned about Karen Mitchell and was so concerned he thought he was going to get charged.

I've never said definitively that he was a serial killer.

What I said was that there's so much out there about him that clearly there's something going on here.

And that law enforcement needs to look into it.

And to think, you know, they have to have a theory that he's some kind of serial killer.

He's not a serial killer.

A guy who doesn't... Well, it sells magazines. It sells books. It causes people to turn on their TVs.

And I was fascinated by the book and terrified at the same time.

And I just decided that that's what I wanted to do for a living. I wanted to catch people like him.

It was Tolstoy who wrote the famous line about families all happy families are alike But an unhappy family is unhappy in its own way
