On the Move The Overheating Earth and the Uprooting of America

You know for nonfiction, well Oliver Sacks's autobiography On the Move had a perfect idea and it's a very profound impact on me you know people hated him the scientific community tried to kick him out.

They said horrible things about him, created all sorts of scandals, it wasn't until awakenings became a blockbuster movie that suddenly he got appointments at NYU in Columbia.

More recently, Abram published a book called On the Move, The Overheating Earth and the Uprooting of America.

He talked to researchers who study what's called the human habitability niche, essentially the climatic conditions that are hospitable to human life.

We estimate it'll affect about 160 million Americans in some way, so about half of us.

But at the low end, there's research that estimates that about 13 million Americans would be displaced by sea level rise alone.

Abram is talking about a mass movement of people that's at least double that and potentially many, many times bigger.

He wrote a beautiful memoir called On The Move.
