When I go in search of the origins of my broken heart, it is the sense of not being the priority to the two people who gave me life that creates a fracture in my feeling of what?

It's like our parents are like our first mirrors. And so my parents were really young when they had me. I mean, my mom was 17, 17, 18. She was 17 when she was pregnant. I think she was 18 by the time she had me. So youth on top of addiction.

The rejection was brutal. Something broke inside me. My grief was oceanic. I put it on a library shelf labeled unlovable and I tried to leave it there.

Don't judge a book by its cover. That's what Will Smith taught me.

If I got to 4pm every day I was like I made it I made it.

She's an actor, talk show host, she's directed, she's done everything... and her book, which we talk about in great detail, Worthy, which is really incredible.

I didn't phone it in, it's a book. So I wanna say if you zoomed out for a second and I imagine this was a book from someone in the 20s and it's about this woman who grows up in Baltimore in this crazy situation...

I love it. It's the funniest, the back and forth is the best. I'd recommend it.

In the book, I got to say, I got to really applaud in a very, very AA way. You're brutal on yourself. You take your inventory in this book.

I wish we had talked about that... it wasn't in the book. But I read that part about her mom getting clean and relapsing.

the couple has made it back into the news this week with Jada now on the interview circuit to promote her upcoming memoir, which is called Worthy.

There are so many surprising things in the book, but the thing that surprised me the most that I actually had to reread it because I said, is this true? Right.

It was not a divorce on paper. Right. But it was a divorce. So from the year 2016, which is seven years ago now, y'all have been apart.

In her new memoir, Worthy, Pinkett Smith contended with the way she coped in life, growing up with parents who struggled with drug addiction, and the choices she made to survive.

If you actually have read the book then you know it's a fantastic body of work and if you haven't read the book just based off the headlines then you are really missing just a great body of work.

A great body of work that is showing their vulnerability and is on a path and a journey to worthiness.

If you've ever dealt with any type of imposter syndrome in your life and you're trying to get to a place of worthy, you would really, really enjoy her book.

I just want to say it's much more easier to spread negative energy. And Jay The Pinkett Book is an awesome read. Yes, it is. Man, I cried in it. I laughed in it and I feel her pain and I just want to say healing energy for her and our family.

It's a journey of healing. It's a journey of somebody trying to find their worthiness, which is, you know, all of us have struggled with that.

It takes a lot of courage to sit in your truth. It takes a lot of courage. It takes a lot of courage to be happy.

Your happiness is your response to responsibility. If you expect others to make you happy, you will always be disappointed.

People can assist in your happiness, but they can't make you happy.

worthy is when you can really be 10 toes down on your self-love. When you can be your own individual in regards to like you wake up in the morning by yourself, you look in the mirror and you are enough.

other people's opinion of you, whether it's good or bad should not be grounds in which you base your self-worth. Your value is inherent within you. What matters the most is whether you know you are worthy.

Can you love somebody forever? No matter what?

Jada is the best friend I have ever had on this planet. I am going to show up for her and support her for the rest of my life.

She said Tupac also suffered from alopecia.

She says, Jesus Christ, she responded. I mean, a million things were out there. No, you know, that's part of it. I would say that none of that's true.

I started looking for places, cliffs where I could have an accident because I didn't want my kids to think that their mother had committed suicide.

I'm like, I'm there. And so the plant medicine, ayahuasca, helped me see the unhealthy, self-harming thoughts about myself.

This book got to be about something else. This book can't just be about Tupac and Will Smith, can it?

If there is such a thing as past lives, I definitely think Pac and I have traveled a few together, you know, in various forms.

It just wasn't possible. There was no chemistry between us. You know, I talk about it in the book.

I wasn't trying to use drugs. I surely wasn't going to be the drug dealer's girlfriend, but I wanted money so that I could be independent. I wanted to take care of myself. So she talks about actually selling drugs.

a lot of people might not know, but he proposed to you while he was in jail. I talk about this in the book when I go to see him in Rikers, when I wrote about that in the book and when I had to talk about it, speak my words for the audible version of the book.

And he was in he was he was in he was he was he was in bad shape. And so when he asked me to get married, he was at Rikers. And I knew at that time that a he needed somebody to do time with him, which I was going to do anyway. You have to marry me to do.

I'm going to buy Jada's book today. I'm going to the bookstore because I want to read it myself and I also want to listen to the audio because I'm hearing all the clips about Jada and Will and you're probably seeing all the clips too of the things that she has said and so I just want to get your opinion of them in general. What do you think is going on?

I don't know what's going on. I tell people all the time mind your damn business. If you mind your damn business I got other stuff going on. My husband got diabetes he passed gas at night he's short really loud. I don't give a damn about no Jada and Will. I mean I'm hoping she's doing all of this to make this book a bestseller because she is.

No, I think she is. I mean I'm buying the book too. Let me tell you. I'm buying the book and I don't even read no damn book. I'm definitely reading the book.
