I think a lot of it may have been true but I think a lot of it still made up. I think a lot of it was still her perspective and she wanted to make him seem like a really bad guy.
The similarities between Shara and Lorenzen and the two main characters in the book are uncanny.

She goes, oh yeah, absolutely this happened. 99.9% of that book is our real life. I just changed some names around.
