All Fours is a 2024 novel by Miranda July. The novel follows a 45-year-old paramenopausal woman who, after having an extramarital affair during a road trip, has a sexual awakening.

In the book, All Fours. Yes. Which you probably have not finished yet. Oh my God. I'm getting there. That's okay.

There's a part that there's a man and a woman and they're engaged in foreplay and she sits on his lap and he takes her tampon. Oh, I've got to that part.

In the book, again, without giving it away, there's a longing for this person. And so I do think that would be extremely hot given that you can't. They're not having sex, this couple.

I think I'm a perv. I think it's my most recent book that I can't stop talking about All Fours.

All Fours. By the way, so many comments are what's the name of the book? Ronica's reading. And I'm thinking like, I even remember it. I know, I say it a lot. You say it so much. It's such a memorable title. All Fours.

The book is about a woman who is going to go on a trip to New York. And she ends up getting a hotel like an hour away. The book takes so many twists and turns. It is so profound. It's so sexy.

Well, the last time I think I spoke about it, I was like, it's so sexy. Oh my God. And then the next day I was like, the tampon thing? No, I liked that. I also thought that was sexy. It's so visceral, their thing.

It is by Miranda July... it's the book of the summer, everyone's reading it... it's about a woman who's 45 and she is going to meet her friends in New York, her husband suggested she drive there, she stops an hour away and stays in a hotel, and the story follows her midlife crisis.

It's a midlife crisis story, a woman in her forties who decides to take a roadtrip, stop an hour away, stay in a hotel and just kind of explore herself.

I just read All Force, the new novel by Miranda July and it's a real tour de force.

It's actually touted as a manifesto for a generation. The generation often of women 45 to 50 who are in the next biological clock crisis which is the narrowing down of the pinnacle of their libido and who is wondering, is this it? Am I going to live like that for another 20 years? What's now?

I read the book and I thought wow this is a book, a fiction version of mating in captivity. It explores the tension between the domestic and the erotic, between our need for safety and our need for freedom and adventure, between stability and aliveness.

That line, that moment where one of her crowd sourcers basically says, just swallow it for the next five years. You'll come out on the other side and you'll be happy that you didn't jump ship. Yeah, that you didn't blow up your life,

I loved your book. It's exceptional. It's so funny and honest and brave. I was very leisurely enjoying it over the last two weeks. And then I got to that point in the book where I only had like 20 pages left, and I started to panic that it was almost over. So I saved the rest for Mother's Day.

The book is, it's really for every woman who's aging and has secret desires and anxieties about those desires and is wondering what's going on with her body and her marriage and just her whole self.

I started writing the book when I was 45, but probably at like 40, I was looking for that book. Or honestly, I would have taken a pamphlet. I was that desperate.

You, I love that you have described this as a coming of age story. And it made me wonder like why do all coming of age stories have to be about teenagers? Why can't a coming of age story be about a woman in the middle of her life?

It's really for every woman who's aging and has secret desires and anxieties about those desires and is wondering what's going on with her body and her marriage and just her whole self.

I mean, you, I don't know what you were doing there in the bathroom. I wrote it for you.

And I mean, all I could figure was like, oh, what's coming must be so humiliating that it's like out of respect to us that we don't talk about it.

You can be one or the other. Explain what a parker is and what a driver is and which are you?

I mean, you don't end up here if you're not a parker.

And it, and it taught me a lot about sex.

Put down your dumb dune book and pick up all fours.

I thought you took an erotic novel one time. I did not take an erotic novel. I took a book called All Fours, which is not a book that I recommend.

Like the book, All Fours. Don't keep bringing that up. I told you not to read it, Shannon, unless you were a certain kind of person. You know, James and Marder, yes. All four. That was not for everybody.
