I'm gonna suggest infinite jest to me next as a book

Infinite jest, pretty amazing.

That'd be the book Infinite Jest was basically a big big portion of that was about how as technology gets better tech entertainment becomes so addictive that it's just going to start sucking the soul out of people.

I think Infinite Jest is a joke. The book? It's a great book. No, I think the whole book is a joke.

Structurally, it's a joke, I think, because it's that long and then all the action of the book takes place like outside of the book... with a thousand footnotes.

I had just read Infinite Jest and I was like super obsessed, which is a bit of a stereotype, I think, for a guy at that age.

I was like sort of proselytizing this at the bar. I was like, oh, you know, everyone needs to go read Infinite Jest. There's this guy, David Foster Wallace, he's incredible.

You know, we both had designs of being writers and spent all of our weekends and free time like writing short stories and poems and stuff.

We hear about Orwell all the time, Orwellian, and we know what they're doing with Animal Farm. In fact, ironically, they're treating Animal Farm in a very Orwellian way with this cartoon adaptation we talked about. But one novel that doesn't get talked about nearly as often in that context is Infinite Jest, the David Foster Wallace novel that came out in the mid'90s. It's like 1,000 pages long, nonlinear, and if you've ever read it or attempted to read it, you know it's like 1,000 pages long. The story doesn't follow a linear path; footnotes are everywhere, and by the end you aren't entirely sure what the story was about.

So David Foster Wallace for the uninitiated and a great writer no longer with us, sadly, is truly really into him being and he wrote a thousand-page book with crazy amount of footnotes that you have to like, keep going back to the footnote section

This movie is like Infinite Jest, you do need to like watch a scene, read a little bit about it, like get to the bottom of it
