Last week, Tommy and I sat down with California Governor Gavin Newsom ... to discuss his new book, Young Man in a Hurry, A Memoir of Discovery.

Let's talk about the book. You've been saying that writing this book made you realize that for most of your life, you were trying to be someone you're not.

And that's what this book is, I'm paying homage to her. To thank her for her sacrifice, teaching me resilience and grit.

And so this book was cathartic. It's not a sanitized politician's book, man.

His memoir was originally set to release last May, delayed reportedly due to the wildfires. Now, Gavin Newsom's memoir will hit in February. The title, Young Man in a Hurry, A Memoir of Discovery.

This, this is not the book you'd expect me to write. It's a story about the people that for, well, better or worse, make us who we are, made me who I am. The hopes that drive us forward, the failures that send us reeling, and the immense burden of grief and regret.
