So first of all great great to be with you I read a lot in the book about the Abraham Accords obviously when I was in the White House my job was mostly behind the Scenes and you know President Trump tapped me to go figure out something in the Middle East

And so ultimately we were able to create the Abraham Accords which got Israel and United Arab Emirates and then Bahrain and Sudan and Kosovo and Morocco to make a peace agreement

But I want people to understand what was actually happening there and you think about overcoming these investigations You know we had to learn to compartmentalize it because we could have spent all of our time focusing on them

But instead we said you know President Trump I give a lot of credit for saying okay We can deal with this But we have to figure out how to get things done keep our promises to the American people

So for me it was a very personal thing that I'd lived through I write in the book about how My father was arrested he went to prison and through that experience it opened my eyes to meeting people who? Who I hadn't met before

Well, I read Jared Kushner's memoir of his time in the White House so that no one else had to. It was truly a dreadful read.

But one of the things I learned, in fact, I think one of the only things I learned in the book, other than the fact that he's a terrible writer and can't even make his grandparents seem charming, was that Netanyahu and Trump, there was a very significant trust deficit between the two leaders.

He has a new book out and he he makes the point in the book about how unfortunate January 6th was. Yes, for the obvious reasons, but also for this reason, because the media had been painting the Trump rallies as this, you know, carnal, debased, disgusting, violent, awful gathering of people, deplorables.

It's a very lonely process to write a book.

It was a very hard process really to chronicle everything that we've been through from the campaign all the way through the end of the administration.

I felt like the media did not either. They didn't try very hard or they didn't have the right access, but they really misjudged a lot of what was happening in the White House.

I never saw it as about left versus right. I saw it as about outside versus in.

He loves his daughter and he's been an amazing father in law and a lot of fun to be with. And we've had some incredible adventures.

In his forthcoming White House memoir, Jared Kushner alleges that Trump's second chief of staff, John Kelly, once shoved Ivanka out of his way as he left a heated meeting in the Oval Office.

I think he did it for for two reasons or three reasons. The first is and this goes to kind of how we are how we operate as a city. He never never adopted conventional wisdom. If he would adopt a conventional wisdom, we got it would have gotten conventional results.

If it wasn't for the fact that he was the son-in-law of the president, you know America would not have benefited from someone of his level of talent who could demystify an issue who could look at it from a different perspective a different through a different prism and re-engineer the solution in a radically different way.

They are not big fans of that, that is for sure. I do appreciate the fact that your book matches our local set pretty perfectly.

But it was kind of funny, they wrote a review that was pretty unhinged in terms of how they characterized the book and actually once that happened the sales of the book started going up immediately and I think it's because what's in the book contradicts a lot of what they wrote about Trump and his administration for four years and so they obviously didn't want to see it in existence or want people to read a point of view that differs from theirs.

I write about this in the book as condensed as I can. But basically my father was a major Democrat donor. New Jersey is a big Democrat state. He was involved in a family dispute. It was a business that he built up. He brought his siblings in. And basically he was prosecuted for three years.

And I really try to put those two things together. But that complacency was the same thing I found in the Middle East in the sense that everyone thought that there were limitations to what they could do. And what I found is like all these barriers are usually in people's minds.
