The book discussed compassion training the author helped create at Stanford University, which was shown to improve happiness, health, and emotional regulation in people. The paperback edition of the book had just come out at the time of the recording.

And again I'm just getting this from having read your book but it was actually part of a number of what must have been devastating and confusing events because your mother passed away and then your father went off and joined a monastery so you were kind of on your own.
