It was described as a book of short stories, including one set in an Arabian Nights style that discusses time travel. Bowen Yang was enjoying it and found it thought-provoking.

I'm reading this great book right now. Oh my God. I'm reading this book by Ted Chiang. It's called Exhalation, it's short stories.

He's the guy who wrote the short story that Arrival is based on. And so it's just wonderful, like really super like, cerebral, like just in terms of like, they make you think these like sci fi stories.

He has one that's set in like an Arabian Nights, Tale Within a Tale, like setup and it's about time travel and it blew my fucking mind. I'm loving it.
