I mean I remember the brutality of that day like it was yesterday and hearing people, especially lawmakers, elected so-called leaders of this country downplay or deny the reality of that day. I mean to say it's infuriating is an understatement. It pisses me the f*** off.

I'm good like physically, mentally. I feel like I've had a lot of time to come to terms with what I experienced that day.

a big part of writing this book was not just to memorialize what I did but also what so many other officers did that day.

I think it was 850 officers who rushed to protect the Capitol during that moment.

I mean it's unfortunate I think not just Republican lawmakers although they do deserve quite a bit of you know the scrutiny that they're getting right now but lawmakers in general and how they are indifferent to the people that they're elected to represent and serve.

She wrote a book called hold the line

She was detained I mean for a total of like 50 some odd days One of the reasons she was detained was for a legend breach of her bail terms Because she went to a gala to receive a freedom award by this uh not-for-profit called the justice center for constitutional freedoms And she took a picture with a guy that she had a no communication order with wow They haul her back put her back in jail

Michael Fanone is a former vice officer with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC for 20 years. And you all know who he is because you remember the pictures from January 6th. You know who he is because you've seen the body cam footage as have a number of federal courts more recently. And you also remember his dramatic testimony before the January 6th committee where he said this...

So Michael, your new book is Hold Align, The Insurrection in One Cops Battle for America's Soul. So let's start with this. How is the battle for the soul going?

I wish they would have killed all you scum bags, because you people are scum. They stole the election from Trump and you know that you scum bag and you fucking too bad it didn't beat the shit out of you more.

I did. When did you start to change your mind? What changed? Well, I guess for those of you that have gotten to know me or know my personality, I mean I was definitely attracted to Donald Trump's bombastic approach to politics.

I read that Washington Post article where they wrote about how he learned Donald Trump's favorite starburst and then he like assembled a jar full of like handpicked the I think it's the pink ones or his favorite pink and something else and he hand picks out of this giant bag of starburst and then puts it in a jar and flies down to Mar-a-Lago and gives it to Donald Trump.

I think it's an all hands on deck effort to make sure that Donald Trump doesn't assume the presidency in 2024.

We all know what that's going to look like. He's told us as much.

But I also, you know, I've got to point out some of the disappointments that I've had over the past three years.

And that's where is the outrage on behalf of the current administration?

I feel like Biden can be outraged. He could express anger without coming across as unhinged like Donald Trump.
